We decided to make a mid week visit to Piglets Adventure Farm in York – My parents were staying in York for my mums 60th Birthday, I had the day off of work and Leo wasn’t at Nursery. We had wanted to visit for a while and finally the stars had aligned!
Tickets
Tickets are reasonably priced, children aged 1 – 16 are £14.95 whilst adult tickets are £12.95 (when booked online). Concession tickets are available for £11.95 and include NHS blue light card holders. They have a summer pass for £25 giving access for the whole summer holidays. They also have an annual membership which is £65 for children and £55 for adults. Something to consider if you live nearby.
Arriving
The farm was really easy to find and was well sign posted. There is a decent sized car park with a short flat walk to the entrance. We’d booked to arrive at 10:30 and entered via the gift shop. You walk down a path, passing by the ice cream parlour on your right before reaching the large central picnic and playground area.

Animals
There is a trail taking you around the farm animals. You cross a bridge to get to what feels like a whole other park. As you turn left there are a variety of ducks and small animals such as rabbits. You then enter the petting barn with the ‘piglets maternity ward’. In here there were two lovely fluffy alpacas that we could get up close with plus some baby piglets born only a few days ago. As you pass through this area you enter another barn where you can feed baby goats / lambs. We had to get a ticket to do this which gave us an allocated time to head there.

Food and drink
The most important thing to know before embarking on any toddler day out is ‘will there be a place to sit and eat/drink while the little ones play?!’. There are lots of picnic benches close to the playground area so you could bring your own food to save some money. Alternately “Piggy Pizza” does some great pizzas, toasted sandwiches and serves hot drinks. They also have cold drinks, crisps and ice cream. There is another cafe area at the indoor play barn which you can access by riding on a tractor!

Highlight
For us it was the beach area. With the music playing, the sun in the sky and Leo running around throwing sand everywhere, we could have been abroad! You can rent a beach hut for the day for between £15 – £30. The combination of sand and a water tap kept Leo entertained for a long time.

Overall
We would definitely visit again. It is good value for money and has enough to keep a little one excited and entertained.
Highly recommended to anyone with a Toddler!
