FAQs

The best time to visit the Antalya coast is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasantly warm, and the tourist crowds are thinner. Summer (July and August) is also popular for beachgoers, though it can get very hot and crowded. Winter (November to March) offers milder weather and fewer tourists, but some attractions may have limited hours.

The Antalya coast is rich with attractions. Some must-visit spots include:

  • Old Town (Kaleiçi): A charming historical area with narrow streets, ancient houses, and historical landmarks.
  • Düden Waterfalls: Stunning waterfalls that drop off into the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Aspendos Theater: One of the best-preserved ancient theaters, showcasing Roman architecture.
  • Perge Ancient City: An archaeological site with impressive ruins from the Hellenistic period.
  • Lara Beach: Known for its long stretch of sandy beach and luxury resorts.

The Antalya coast offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including:

  • Water Sports: Such as snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, and parasailing.
  • Hiking: Popular trails include the Lycian Way, which offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.
  • Boat Tours: Explore the coastline, visit secluded coves, and see sights like the Sunken City of Kekova.
  • Paragliding: Especially popular in the resort town of Ölüdeniz, known for its stunning lagoon and aerial views.
  • Golfing: Belek is renowned for its world-class golf courses.

Visitors have several transportation options:

  • Public Buses and Trams: An affordable way to travel within Antalya city and nearby towns.
  • Taxis and Ride-Sharing: Readily available but can be more expensive.
  • Car Rentals: Offers the most flexibility to explore the region at your own pace.
  • Dolmuş (Shared Minibuses): A convenient and inexpensive way to travel between towns and cities along the coast.
  • Bicycles and Scooters: Available for rent in many areas for short-distance travel.

Yes, here are a few cultural norms and tips:

  • Dress Modestly: Especially when visiting religious sites like mosques. Shoulders and knees should be covered.
  • Tipping: It’s customary to tip in restaurants (5-10% of the bill), hotels, and for other services like tour guides.
  • Respect Local Customs: Show respect for local customs and traditions, particularly in rural areas.
  • Bargaining: Common in markets and bazaars, but less so in shops with fixed prices. Bargaining should be done politely.
  • Greetings: A warm “Merhaba” (hello) is always appreciated. Handshakes are common when meeting someone for the first time.

Unpopular opinion - but babies aren’t the worst encounter you could have in upper class….

I feel like I am on my own when I say this, but upper/business class is very overrated. People told me I’d never want to go back to economy, but luckily for me, I’m much more of an economy girl at heart. I did another business flight shortly after this in the Q Suite with Qatar, and I got the sh*t’s from their lobster mac and cheese - that was the nail in the coffin for my brief encounter with the boujee life 🫡
