Corfu offers various transportation options. Renting a car or scooter is popular for exploring the island’s diverse landscapes and beaches. Beware in the summer when narrow roads become crammed and over used. Public buses connect major towns and attractions, and taxis are readily available. Boat tours are a scenic way to explore the coastline and nearby islands. For a unique experience, consider renting a bike or joining a guided tour to discover hidden gems.

The best time to visit Corfu in my opinion is during the spring (May to June). These months offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and low prices. Summer (July and August) is ideal for beachgoers who enjoy the heat. The downsides of visiting during the peak summer season are the crowds and high prices.

Winter is cooler and quieter, with mild temperatures but the beach resorts are all closed. For a peaceful winter trip you should stay in Corfu Town.

Corfu’s cuisine is a treat for food lovers. Try sofrito, a local specialty of veal in garlic and wine sauce. Pastitsada, a rich pasta dish with spiced beef or chicken, is also popular. Enjoy fresh seafood at coastal tavernas and don’t miss the island’s traditional baklava. Corfu is known for its kumquat liqueur, which makes a unique souvenir. Dining in a traditional taverna offers an authentic Greek culinary experience.

Yes, Corfu is very family-friendly. The island offers safe, sandy beaches like Glyfada and Sidari, ideal for children. Many hotels and resorts cater to families with amenities such as pools and playgrounds. Attractions like the Aqualand water park provide fun for all ages. The island’s relaxed atmosphere and welcoming locals make it a great destination for a family vacation.

Kavos in the south of the island is famous for its lively strip of bars popular with the 18-30’s crowd.

Corfu Town, Acharavi and Sidari are also great places to visit if you are looking to enjoy a lively night scene.
