Hotels with Heated Outdoor Pools | Family Edition!
Which Family Hotels with Heated Outdoor Pools Are Worth Booking?
In my opinion, the best family hotels with heated outdoor pools for shoulder season (April, May, October) are Sani Hotels in Halkidiki (home to the largest heated pool in Greece), the Ikos Resorts across Corfu, Halkidiki and Kos, Martinhal Sagres in the Algarve, GF Victoria in Tenerife (heated pools all year), and the Westin Costa Navarino in the Peloponnese. Not every pool labelled ‘heated’ is genuinely warm, so every pick on this list has been verified to heat its outdoor pool in the cooler months.
If you’re like me and craving that summer feeling during cold UK half terms, but want to avoid long haul flights and peak prices, shoulder season travel (April, May, October) is perfect. It’s quieter, cheaper, and cooler for kids, which is ideal for exploring without the heat and hassle.
The catch? Not all “heated” outdoor pools are truly warm. After a few chilly surprises and lots of research, I’ve pulled together a list of genuinely family friendly hotels with heated outdoor pools. Many are 5-star resorts which can offer huge savings out of season plus, I’ve included some great lower-cost alternatives too. Let’s dive in…warmly, of course.
Hotels with heated outdoor pools in Greece
Temperatures in Greece in October average between 18-24°C. April is the coolest month with 12-20°C, and May is much the same as October. These seasons are warm enough to feel like summer but cool enough to enjoy day trips and exploring. A heated outdoor pool makes all the difference on breezy days and here are our top picks for Greece:
Domes of Elounda – Crete (£££)
🌴 Why families love it: Spacious suites (some with private pools), a sandy beach, and a peaceful atmosphere that works beautifully for families with younger kids.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: The main outdoor family pool and a smaller kids’ pool are heated in the cooler months. There’s also a heated indoor pool as a backup.
Ikos Resorts- Corfu, Halkidiki & Kos (£££)
- Ikos Dassia – Corfu
- Ikos Olivia – Halkidiki
- Ikos Aria – Kos
🌴 Why families love them: The gold standard of all-inclusive luxury. Baby gear on request, gourmet food, 24/7 room service and amazing kids clubs.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: Each resort offers heated outdoor pools during April, May and October, ideal for shoulder season swimming.
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino – Peloponnese (£££)
🌴 Why families love it: This massive resort has something for everyone, a mini waterpark, kids activities, golf for grown-ups, and bike friendly paths through beautiful grounds.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: Lagoon outdoor pool is heated in April, May and October. The waterpark isn’t heated but is still a hit on sunny spring days. This resort also has the benefit of an indoor pool.
Sani Hotels – Halkidiki (£££)
🌴 Why families love it: A multi hotel luxury resort with incredible nature, world class dining, and thoughtful family facilities from kids football academies to pram friendly paths. Sani Beach is the most kid centric but my personal favourite is Sani Club for the views and the fab bungalow style rooms.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: Sani Dunes (actually the largest heated pool in Greece), Sani Club, Porto Sani and Sani Beach all have heated outdoor pools in spring and autumn, plus indoor pools across the resorts.
Creta Maris Resort – Crete (££)
🌴 Why families love it: A huge all-inclusive resort with a kids splash park and water slides, family suites and a wide range of restaurants. The village style layout is easy on the eye and makes it easy to get around with little legs.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: An outdoor pool is heated during April, May and October. The waterpark isn’t heated, but there’s also a heated indoor pool available.
Parga Beach Resort – Parga Town, Greece (££)
🌴 Why Families love it: A beautiful village style resort on a beach setting with a lovely kids club, explore Parga town on foot or you can catch a water taxi to the town to experience a more authentic side of Greece.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool Info: One small children’s pool is heated out of the summer season. A great choice for exploring the local town and a warm swim for little ones.
Domes of Corfu – Corfu (£££)
🌴 Why families love it: A beachfront beauty with a relaxed, luxury vibe. Expect family rooms, a fantastic kids club, and multiple dining options that cater to even the fussiest eaters.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: The main outdoor family pool is heated from April to the end of May, and again from late September through October.
Hotels with heated outdoor pools in the Canary Islands
All year sun, yes even in December! Prices don’t dip much in April, May, and October, but the weather is reliably warm. These are our favourites when we need guaranteed warmth and a short flight, with a pool that the kids can play in for hours to make it the perfect chilled holiday (well as chilled as it can be with kids).
H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection – Lanzarote (££)
🌴 Why families love it: Pirate ship splash zone, loads of family dining options, and evening entertainment.
🏊 Heated Outdoor Pool info: Five pools in total which includes one heated outdoor pool.

Paradisus by Meliá Gran Canaria – Gran Canaria (£££)
🌴 Why families love it: Paradisus by Meliá Gran Canaria is a beautiful beachfront resort located in San Agustín. The hotel is beautifully refurbished and offers a stylish, relaxed atmosphere with fantastic restaurants, family activities and direct access to the beach.
🏊 Heated outdoor pool info: The hotel has several outdoor pools including a heated children’s pool and splash area, making it a great choice for families travelling outside of the peak summer months when you still want to enjoy plenty of pool time.
Tivoli La Caleta Tenerife Resort – Tenerife (£££)
🌴 Why families love it: Located in Costa Adeje, this stylish five-star resort is perfect for families looking for a relaxed but luxurious base in Tenerife. The hotel sits close to the seafront promenade and beaches and offers spacious rooms, beautiful gardens and fantastic restaurants.

Final thoughts on hotels with heated outdoor pools (Plus a budget friendly option..)
April, May, and October are the secret warm cheaper family holidays where you can get out and explore a little more. You can take advantage of luxury resorts at cheaper prices, with heated pools, family first service, and plenty to keep little ones happy so you can actually try and relax.
A lot of the hotels with heated pools are 5-star and still on the pricy side out of season. If you’re looking for a more budget friendly heated pool, Eurocamp has a number of camps that offer them.
Eurocamp options:
There are many Eurocamp options with heated pools, click on the below Eurocamp link and filter by the date you wish to go away, lots of parks open in April and close in November. Once you have your list, filter again by heated pool. This will give you the best options for an April, May and October break.

La Vallee is an example of a Eurocamp open in the shoulder seasons with heated pools. This park is open from April to November and in Normandy France.

FAQ’s
In the Algarve, outdoor air temperatures range from 18-23°C in April, 20-25°C in May, and 20-25°C in October. Without heating, outdoor pool water in spring typically runs 16-19°C, which feels cold for young children. The best family hotels (such as Martinhal Sagres and The Magnolia Hotel) specifically heat their outdoor pools during these months, keeping water at a comfortable 26-28°C. Always confirm heating is active on your travel dates when you book.
Yes, for shoulder-season family holidays it makes a significant difference. An unheated outdoor pool in April or October can sit at 16-18°C, which is too cold for most children to enjoy for more than a few minutes. A properly heated pool (26-28°C) means kids get full pool days even on breezier spring or autumn days, which is exactly the point of travelling in the shoulder season: quieter resorts, lower prices, and still a genuine holiday feel.
May and October are the sweet spots. Temperatures sit between 18-24°C, the resorts are quieter, and prices are noticeably lower than July or August. Hotels like Sani, Ikos, and Domes of Elounda all confirm their outdoor pools are heated during these months, so you get the full holiday feel without the peak-season crowds or heat.
A properly heated outdoor pool should be maintained at around 26-28°C, which is comfortable for children and adults for extended swimming sessions. Some hotels describe pools as “heated” but only bring them to 20-22°C, which still feels cold on a breezy spring day. When booking, it’s always worth asking the hotel specifically what temperature the pool is maintained at during your travel month, especially in April and October.
