Are TUI an Inclusive Travel Company?
LGBT family holidays, Single Parent holidays and Neuro-inclusive Holidays: How does TUI cater to these families?
TUI is one of the world’s leading holiday companies, we love them due to their wide range of destinations and affordable pricing. They have a presence in over 100 destinations meaning TUI has built a reputation for offering tailored holidays that suit a wide variety of travellers. But just how inclusive are they?
Inclusivity is more than just a trend in the travel industry, it’s a necessity. Families today come in many forms, each with unique needs and expectations for their holidays. For solo parents, finding affordable options can be a challenge. Neuro-diverse families worry whether the holiday will be suitable for their autistic child’s needs. LGBTQ+ families want to know they will be safe and able to relax with their kids. Navigating the complexities of planning a holiday can often feel daunting, but even more so when you have these extra things to think about.
TUI seems to have recognised these challenges and has embraced a proactive approach to creating accessible, accommodating, and affirming travel experiences for everyone.
Bringing Inclusivity to The Travel Mum
In 2025, we are committed to making our platform more inclusive and representative of the diverse families we aim to inspire. As a content driven brand, we recognise that our perspective as a two parent, straight, white family may not reflect the experiences of many others. For example, while we might visit a destination and find it fantastic, a family with two mums could encounter a very different experience. Similarly, where we might highlight an abundance of food options, a family with gluten free dietary needs might face challenges.
With this in mind, we’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our brand with a group of incredible new Travel Mums! To begin with we are welcoming a solo parent, a parent of neurodiverse children, and two families with two mums. These voices will bring fresh, authentic perspectives to help us better serve and connect with families from all walks of life.
While we have plans to include even more diverse groups throughout 2025, our initial focus will be on single parent, neuro-inclusive, and LGBT family friendly travel.
Kicking things off, we asked each of our new Travel Mums to share their thoughts on TUI and how the company addresses their unique needs.
LGBT Family Holidays
Who are you?
Picture this: a lively ( if not slightly chaotic) family of five, navigating the world one adventure at a time. That’s us – myself (Jazz), my wonderful wife Zoe, and our three kids: Our eager eldest Kiki (18), our inquisitive explorer Bear (11), and our tiny traveller Zander (1). We’re living proof that family adventures come in all shapes and sizes, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Have you used TUI before for a family holiday?
Yes we have! While TUI offers specific LGBTQ+ focused destinations, our family adventures have taken a slightly different path. With three kids in tow, our compass points towards holidays that are a little more paddling pool orientated and less cocktails at 10 (Although cocktails at 5 is a must!) TUI Holiday Villages and TUI Blue resorts have been perfect for us. From the sun-soaked shores of Holiday Village Turkey to the Mediterranean charm of Ibiza’s Seaview, we’ve painted our family memories across Majorca, Montenegro, and most recently, the stunning Holiday Village Aliathon in Cyprus.
Here’s our little travel secret: before packing our bags, we always consult the rainbow index, think of it as your trusty travel compass! It helps us understand the cultural landscape of our potential destinations. Interestingly, while places like Turkey, Montenegro, and Cyprus might raise eyebrows on paper regarding LGBTQ+ equality, our experiences within the TUI resorts have been nothing short of wonderful. The TUI resorts we have visited have somehow – as if by holiday magic – melted away the discrimination that is often spoken about in some of these regions.

What made your holidays so inclusive?
TUI just gets it. Their website isn’t just a booking platform – it’s filled with advice, guidance, information and most of all it’s simple to use. They have both family holiday pages and LGBTQ+ sections that leave no stone unturned. We all know travelling in the school holidays and with a larger family can be expensive however we have managed to find some absolute bargains – especially with the free child places.
But the real magic? The staff in the resorts. These wonderful humans didn’t just work they welcomed us with open arms and genuine smiles. No awkward room change requests, no judgmental eye contact, just pure acceptance of what we are: parents loving their kids and experiencing amazing memories together.
What are your 3 Favourite LGBTQ+ Family Friendly Destinations
- Paris, France: Oh, la la! This city of lights and love stole our hearts faster than you can say “croissant”! Le Marais, the historic gay neighbourhood, is just the beginning. Every cobblestone street tells a story, every patisserie tempts with delectable treats, and the best part? It’s all wonderfully walkable for both grownups and those on wheels!
- Cyprus: Our latest discovery was the Holiday Village Aliathon! Pristine facilities, a buffet that could tempt any food critic, and entertainment that kept everyone from toddler to teen thoroughly engaged. The staff and their genuine interest in getting to know each family created this wonderful sense of community. Seeing familiar friendly faces each evening at dinner made us feel like we belonged, just another happy family making memories.
- Rhodes, Greece: This gem captured our LGBTQ+ hearts with its laid-back charm and stunning beaches. The TUI Blue Sensatori Atlantica Dreams became our perfect base, with family suites so spacious and comfortable, they felt like a home away from home. The local atmosphere is as warm as the Mediterranean sun, with a relaxed vibe that makes everyone feel welcome.
Final thoughts..
The true essence of LGBTQ+ family friendly travel isn’t about rainbow flags or special treatment, it’s simply about feeling wonderfully, beautifully normal. It’s those precious moments when you’re so caught up in the joy of family holiday fun that you forget to think twice about who you are. That’s real inclusivity. That’s true safety. That’s the kind of travel that makes our photo gallery overflow with genuine smiles.
After all, isn’t that what we’re all looking for in a family holiday? A place where we can just be us, where our kids can be kids, and where making memories takes center stage. And that’s exactly what TUI has helped us find, time and time again.
Single Parent Holidays
Who are you?
Hi! I’m Linzi, also known as The Solo Travel Mum. My six year old son, Niah, and I share a passion for exploring new places together. Our solo travel journey began when Niah was just two years old with a trip to Butlins in Skegness. Not long after, we found ourselves on our first flight together, and we haven’t looked back since.
At first, I was a little nervous about traveling alone with a toddler, but it didn’t take long for me to realise how incredible it is to experience new cultures with my little best friend. From city breaks to beach holidays, hot tub lodges to camping trips, we’ve tried nearly every type of holiday and we’re not stopping anytime soon. 2025 is shaping up to be our biggest adventure yet!
Is TUI any Good for Single Parent Holidays?
If I had to choose my favourite holiday provider as a single parent, it would hands down be TUI. The convenience and value they offer is unbeatable in my opinion. When everything is included there’s no need to worry about hidden costs or complicated logistics. All I have to do is pack our suitcases and decide on my first cocktail. The rest is handled, exactly what you need sometimes as a busy parent.
One of the biggest perks for us is TUI’s solo traveller discount, which offers between £100 to £150 off your holiday when traveling as the only adult (so it applies for us single parents!) It’s double the amount I have seen with any other package providers. Click here to browse some great trips. Currently holidays before the end of April 2025 have £100 off and trips after that have £150 off. Compare this with the current ‘SALE’ code to make sure you get the best discount for your holiday.
What are your 3 favourite single parent friendly destinations?
Narrowing down our favourite destinations is tough, so I asked Niah to help me out! Here are his top three:
- The Agafay Desert in Marrakesh, where we rode camels at sunset and had dinner by
the sand dunes. - Polis, Cyprus, where we found ourselves in the most beautiful hotel with barely any
other guests… It felt like having a giant villa and pool to ourselves. - Kos, Greece, where we ate more delicious Greek food than I thought was humanly
possible. This place also had a fantastic waterslide which I’m assuming is why it
made Niah’s list!
I’m so excited to continue adventuring with my little man and sharing our journey to inspire other solo parents. If we can do it, so can you!

Neuro-inclusive Holidays
Who are you?
We are a neurodiverse family of five who believe that with planning and creativity, every adventure can be made more inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for families like ours. Our children, ages 9, 7, and 4, each have their own unique needs, which shape the way we travel. Whether we are navigating busy airports, adjusting to sensory overload, or adapting to changes in routine, travel can sometimes feel overwhelming.
But here’s the truth: our love for exploring the world is matched only by our determination to make travel more accessible for our family, and others like ours. We’re passionate about discovering new places, learning as we go, and making lasting memories together. From tips on family friendly destinations to navigating airports, accommodations, and activities, we’re here to share what we’ve learned, offer insights from our experiences, and connect with other neurodiverse families along the way!
Traveling as a neurodiverse family isn’t just about facing challenges, it’s also about embracing the opportunities it brings! Watching our children grow more confident with every trip, curious about the cultures we encounter, and learning from our experiences is truly priceless. While providing the right accommodations to overcome barriers can be tricky, it’s absolutely possible. These experiences have shown us that with the right preparation, support, and mindset, travel can great for family connection, memory making and celebrating our neurodiversity.
Have you found TUI to be neuro-inclusive?
Planning a holiday as a neurodiverse family can feel overwhelming, but we’ve found that TUI really know how to make things easier and are committed to neuro-inclusive travel. It’s great to see companies like TUI leading the way and recognising the needs of neurodiverse families.
TUI’s website has information for neurodiverse families. We especially love their hotel accessibility guides. They’re full of handy details and pictures that help us figure out if a resort is a good fit for our family, making decision making so much easier. Use this link to find hotels that have accessibility guides.
The TUI Assisted Travel team is also such a helpful feature of TUI’s booking process. They can help with everything from arranging airport assistance to sorting out special luggage allowances, and even sending out sunflower lanyards in advance.
We love researching new destinations, and have been busy looking at options for the year ahead – it’s awesome to see that some resorts, like the Sensatori by TUI BLUE collection, have activities designed specifically for those with sensory needs. These are exactly what our family needs for a great holiday!
What have been your 3 favourite destinations?
- Lake Garda, Italy – We absolutely love this spot in Italy! The lake is the perfect setting, with gorgeous towns to explore, theme parks and family-friendly water access. It’s close enough to explore cities like Venice, Verona and Milan. AND it has amazing pizza and ice cream – what’s not to love!
- Florida, USA – If you love theme parks, Florida may seem like an obvious choice but you may not be aware that there’s a wide range of attractions and experiences with great accessibility schemes (including Disney and Universal). With incredible theme parks, autism friendly Discovery Cove, as well as calm beach spots and nature trails, Florida is an amazing destination for neuro-diverse families!
- Croatia – A fantastic holiday destination for neuro-diverse families, offering a range of activities and environments that cater to different needs. With its beautiful beaches, relaxed atmosphere, and accessible nature spots, families can enjoy a peaceful escape while avoiding overcrowded tourist hotspots!
