FAQs

Dubai is one of those destinations that seems to have it all. Year-round sunshine, stunning beaches, world-famous attractions, and a real mix of modern luxury and traditional culture. Whether you’re shopping in futuristic malls, riding camels in the desert, or splashing around in a waterpark with the kids – there’s something for every type of traveller. It’s also super family-friendly, with loads of hotels and attractions designed with little ones in mind.

The best time to visit Dubai is between November and March, when the weather is warm and pleasant – perfect for beach days, sightseeing, and outdoor adventures. Summers (June to August) are very hot, with temperatures often over 40°C, which some children may find too hot.

The official language is Arabic, but you’ll find that English is widely spoken everywhere – in hotels, restaurants, taxis, and shops. It’s incredibly easy to get around and communicate, even if you don’t speak a word of Arabic.

Yes, you can drink alcohol in Dubai – but there are rules to be aware of. You can drink at licensed venues like hotel bars, restaurants, and beach clubs, but public drinking and being drunk in public is not allowed. It’s all about being respectful of the local laws and culture.

Here are a few helpful tips to keep things smooth and respectful while you’re exploring:

Do dress modestly in public areas (especially malls and cultural sites) – nothing too revealing.
Do respect local customs and laws – it’s a conservative country at heart.
Do use taxis or apps like Careem – they’re affordable and reliable for getting around.
Do enjoy the local food – the mix of Middle Eastern and international cuisine is amazing!

Don’t show too much PDA (kissing or hugging in public isn’t the norm).
Don’t take photos of locals without asking – especially women and families.
Don’t bring any banned items (like certain medications – always check before you go).
Don’t swear or lose your temper in public – it’s taken very seriously.

Dubai is incredibly welcoming to tourists, and as long as you’re respectful of the culture, you’ll have the most amazing time

Ksamil is a town on the Albanian Riviera and has had some very mixed reviews over the years, and I think a lot of that comes down to when you visit.

We absolutely loved our trip. It was incredibly affordable too - we paid £190 for six nights in an apartment that slept five! (This was in 2023) I’ve written a full blog post about the trip over on the website, where I’ve shared some great-value accommodation options and tips if you’re thinking about booking something similar.

Comment BLOG and I’ll send you the link along with some cheap flights and info on how to get there!

Expect things like:

🍻 £1.50 pints
🦐 Seafood dishes for under £10
☀️ Beautiful, crystal-clear beaches

We visited in May, when there were very few other people around. The town was just starting to open up for the season, the weather was lovely, and it felt relaxed and easy to enjoy.

June also seems like a great time to visit – a few more things open, but still without the peak summer crowds.

July and August appear to be a very different experience. The town is quite small, and it struggles to cope with the number of visitors in peak season. It can feel very crowded, and prices - particularly for things like sun loungers - can become very steep because of the demand.

So if Ksamil is on your list, timing really is everything!
