FAQs

Kos can be as affordable or as indulgent as you like. You’ll find plenty of family-run tavernas serving delicious, budget-friendly food, and many hotels include meals and entertainment in the price. Car hire and attractions are generally good value compared to other Greek islands.

Kos is famous for its beautiful beaches, warm hospitality, ancient ruins, and relaxed atmosphere. It’s a perfect blend of Greek culture, sunshine, and family-friendly fun.

Direct flights from most UK airports take around four hours, making it a very manageable journey for families – not too long for little travellers!

Absolutely! Kos is one of Greece’s most family-friendly islands. The beaches are shallow and safe, the locals are incredibly welcoming, and there’s a great mix of things to do for all ages – from castles and waterparks to relaxed seaside days.

The best time to visit is May to June or September to October when the weather is warm but not too hot, and the island is a little quieter. If you prefer guaranteed sunshine and don’t mind busier beaches, July and August are also fantastic.

Not necessarily, but it’s a great way to explore. The island is small and easy to drive around, and you’ll discover quiet beaches and beautiful villages that buses don’t always reach. If you’re staying in a main resort like Kos Town or Tigaki, you can get by with local transport and taxis.

It’s technically safe in most areas, but bottled water is widely available and many visitors prefer it as it tastes better.

Ksamil is a town on the Albanian Riviera and has had some very mixed reviews over the years, and I think a lot of that comes down to when you visit.

We absolutely loved our trip. It was incredibly affordable too - we paid £190 for six nights in an apartment that slept five! (This was in 2023) I’ve written a full blog post about the trip over on the website, where I’ve shared some great-value accommodation options and tips if you’re thinking about booking something similar.

Comment BLOG and I’ll send you the link along with some cheap flights and info on how to get there!

Expect things like:

🍻 £1.50 pints
🦐 Seafood dishes for under £10
☀️ Beautiful, crystal-clear beaches

We visited in May, when there were very few other people around. The town was just starting to open up for the season, the weather was lovely, and it felt relaxed and easy to enjoy.

June also seems like a great time to visit – a few more things open, but still without the peak summer crowds.

July and August appear to be a very different experience. The town is quite small, and it struggles to cope with the number of visitors in peak season. It can feel very crowded, and prices - particularly for things like sun loungers - can become very steep because of the demand.

So if Ksamil is on your list, timing really is everything!
