FAQs
It really depends on what kind of holiday you’re after, but Cambrils is a firm favourite for families. It’s a beautiful seaside town with a long, sandy beach, a lovely marina and loads of places to eat (including some fab spots for paella!). It’s got that relaxed, local feel but still has everything you need. Salou is also great if you’re after a bit more buzz. Plus it’s right next to PortAventura World, which is a huge hit with kids.
Yes, but in a good way! Places like Salou have that classic holiday energy – beach bars, family-friendly entertainment and busy promenades. But you can also find quieter spots like Cambrils or La Pineda, where things feel more chilled. It’s a really nice balance, especially with kids – lively enough to keep them entertained, but not overwhelming.
Flights from the UK to Reus or Barcelona usually take around 2 to 2.5 hours. Super manageable with kids – just enough time for snacks, a bit of screen time and maybe a quick nap before landing in the sunshine.
It’s still pleasantly warm in October! You’re looking at average daytime temperatures around 20-24°C, which is perfect for little ones. It’s not too hot, but still warm enough for beach days and swimming. It does start to cool off in the evenings though, so definitely bring a few layers for when the sun goes down.
The nearest airport is Reus Airport, which is super convenient. It’s just a short drive to popular resorts like Salou and Cambrils. If you’re flying from the UK, you might also find good options into Barcelona Airport, which is a bit further (around 1 to 1.5 hours by car), but often has more flight choices.
Keep up to date...
ad I think this might be my new favourite water park in the world! It’s taken my top space from another amazing park, YAS Waterworld in Abu Dhabi.
Why did I rate Volcano Bay so much?
- Incredible theming as you’d expect from a Universal park.
- Lots for my 2 and 7 year olds to do together.
- Free swim nappies! (Little things like this show you a park gets it when it comes to families)
- It isn’t too big. Some waterparks are huge and difficult to get around. This felt quite compact while still having lots to do.
- Picnic benches by the splash area! Great for having a beer and snack in peace while the kids play.
We are currently visiting Orlando on a package holiday with @britishairwaysholidays
I’ve written a blog over on our website with some more info on the park. Comment VOLCANO and I’ll send you a DM with the link.

The last time I posted about this, there were so many comments from people saying you shouldn`t drink around children. Which I find mad as a child of the 90`s who grew up in working class England when pub culture was at its peak.
Kids entertaining themselves, a glass of wine with friends... If someone wants to open a soft play bar, I`ll be your first customer 🫡

Menorca is a fab shout for a family holiday 🍹
Short transfers ✔️
Calm, shallow beaches ✔️
No chaos, just a relaxed vibe ✔️
It’s one of the easiest places we’ve travelled with kids. Safe, simple, and really stress free. Think beach days, ice creams, and slow evenings without the hectic scenes you can often get on Mallorca and Ibiza. We decided we wanted to live there on the first day of our holiday 😝
We went in August which was a little too hot for us and very busy on some of the most popular beaches. The next time we go we will try May/June or September/October.
Comment MENORCA and I’ll send you a link to our favourite Menorca hotels with splash parks plus a video I made about a cheap boat trip we did 💛
