Duinrell Eurocamp – An Honest Family Review
Duinrell Eurocamp – An Honest Family Review
Last October, we chose to stay at Duinrell Eurocamp in Wassenaar, the Netherlands. Duinrell is a unique mix of holiday park, amusement park, and water park, located just 50 minutes from Amsterdam. We booked Duinrell because of its fantastic on-site activities for children, but we also wanted to include a city-break element in our holiday – and Duinrell was the perfect base.
We travelled as a group of four adults and one child during the Scottish October Holidays, staying for four nights. With flights from Edinburgh to Amsterdam and accommodation in a Comfort three-bedroom cabin at Duinrell Eurocamp, the total cost worked out at just £120 per person. If you’re looking for a family holiday with plenty of activities, Eurocamp is an excellent option.
How to get to Duinrell Eurocamp
Getting to Duinrell Eurocamp from the UK is simple, with several great options depending on how you like to travel.
Fly: The quickest and easiest way is to fly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. You can find reasonably priced flights from most UK airports. The airport is about a 30-minute drive from Duinrell.
Drive: If you prefer a scenic adventure, driving is a fantastic option. You can take the Eurotunnel from Folkestone to Calais or catch a ferry from ports such as Harwich to the Hook of Holland, followed by a short 40-minute drive to Duinrell.
We opted to fly and use public transport, and it was a very straightforward journey. From Schiphol, take the train to Voorschoten (on the line towards Den Haag). Outside the station, cross the road and catch bus 44 to Wassenaar Duinrell – it drops you right at the entrance. The whole journey takes between 60–90 minutes and costs around €12 per adult; children travel free. You can tap on and off trains and buses using your contactless card.
See our preferred company for booking airport transfers here.
Arriving at the Duinrell Eurocamp
On arrival, you’ll first see the entrance for day guests at the Duinrell theme park. A short walk to the left brings you to the Eurocamp check-in cabins. The campsite gives an immediate feeling of tranquillity, with tree-lined paths and natural surroundings. Staff provided us with a golf buggy to take us and our luggage directly to our accommodation – a great help when travelling with young children.
Duinrell Eurocamp Campsite Accommodation
We stayed in a Comfort three-bedroom with covered decking mobile home, which was ideal for families. The layout included one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms. For our group of four adults and one child, the space worked well for a short break, although it may feel tight for a longer stay.
The cabin was spotlessly clean, with a good-sized bathroom, a dining area and a handy seating space. Outside, the large deck was gated – perfect for keeping little ones safe.
The cabins are set among trees, with no immediate neighbours right on your doorstep. This gave us a real sense of privacy and peacefulness – a lovely contrast to the lively theme park.
Duinrell Eurocamp Activities
Duinrell isn’t just a campsite – it’s also a full-scale theme park that welcomes day visitors. As Eurocamp guests, you get free access to the theme park. When we stayed, our son was under 1m tall, but there were still plenty of Duinrell rides for young children that he could enjoy. Visiting in October meant the park was quiet, so we rarely had to queue – making the experience feel relaxed and stress-free.
In addition to the rides, there are so many great areas to keep kids entertained, including:
- A large outdoor playground (our son happily spent hours here)
- An indoor play area with a ball pit
- Arcade area
- Trampolines
- Mini-golf
- Go-kart and bike hire
It’s fair to say that with the number of activities in the park, you’ll never be stuck for ways to entertain your children – big or small.
Duinrell Eurocamp Tiki Waterpark
One of the biggest attractions is the Duinrell Tiki Pool – the most famous water park in the Netherlands. With 21 slides, it caters for all ages, from gentle water play zones for toddlers to high-speed slides for older children and adults.
The indoor pool area includes a heated children’s section and a lazy river, making it perfect for families. Although the outdoor pools were closed during our autumn visit, the indoor Tiki Pool was fantastic and could easily fill an entire day. Open daily from 10am to 10pm, it’s easy to slot into your holiday schedule.
Eurocamp guests enjoy discounted entry:
- €11 per person for 2 hours in the indoor pool
- €5 per person for 4 hours in the outdoor pool (available in peak season)
Duinrell Eurocamp – Entertainment
The Duinrell Eurocamp site is cleverly divided into distinct zones that balance convenience, fun, and tranquillity. The main Eurocamp accommodation areas are set in peaceful, wooded sections, offering a quiet retreat just a short walk from the central attractions. Key facilities like the Tikibad waterpark, amusement park, and bike hire are centrally located.
The Plaza is where you’ll find the main restaurants and bar, as well as evening entertainment such as bingo and karaoke.
Duinrell Eurocamp – Dining Options
There are many places to eat throughout the whole campsite to cater for all. Two of our party are vegan and they were able to find suitable meals everywhere that we visited when were on-site.
- Schaapskooi Restaurant – The main restaurant in the amusement park, serving fresh meals, a salad bar, sandwiches and soups. Plenty of seating makes it perfect for lunch.
- La Place Plaza – Freshly prepared meals including burgers, grills and seasonal salads.
- Snackbar – A quick and affordable option for chips, burgers and snacks.
- Pizza – With takeway and sit-in option this is great for an easy evening meal with a lovely outdoor seating area available.
- Duinrell Pub – Located under La Place Plaza, this is a great place to spend an evening, serving drinks with big screens, a pool table and even a bowling alley.
- Mini-Market – Ideal for essentials, fresh bread and groceries if you’d rather self-cater.
Things To Do Near Duinrell Eurocamp (No Car Needed!)
One of the reasons we picked Duinrell was the easy access to Amsterdam and the ability to explore the local area. While having a car would open up even more opportunities, we managed perfectly well using the convenient and affordable public transport.
Wassenaar
If you don’t want to venture far from the park, directly across the road from Duinrell is Wassenaar, a quaint Dutch town. It has lovely cafés, bakeries, and restaurants, along with beautiful cobbled streets and boutique shops. We walked into the town every day and even enjoyed a lovely evening out for dinner and drinks.
There are also larger supermarkets – very handy if the on-site mini-market doesn’t have what you need. This was very useful for us due to guests with dietary requirements in our party.
Amsterdam
Travelling from Duinrell to Amsterdam takes about 1 hour by public transport and around 40 minutes by car. From Duinrell, take bus 46 towards Leidschendam and get off at Voorschoten railway station (approx. 15–20 mins). From there, take a train to Amsterdam Centraal.
On our return journey, we left it too late to catch the last bus back to Duinrell and had to flag a taxi from Voorschoten station – which proved a bit tricky for five people late at night.
We loved our day exploring Amsterdam – it offered a nice contrast to the theme park. We wandered the picturesque streets, spent time in the Lego Store, and booked a canal boat trip. Having done both day and evening cruises before, I’d recommend a daytime canal tour for the best views.
The Hague
On our final day, we travelled to the airport via The Hague – a fantastic chance to see the beautiful architecture of the Netherlands’ third-largest city and enjoy a bite to eat in one of the many local cafés. If you have more time, there are plenty of museums to explore, and the beach at Scheveningen is just a short journey away for a seaside escape.
Duinrell Eurocamp Summary
We had such a brilliant time at Duinrell Eurocamp. It was the ideal base for a family-friendly holiday in the Netherlands, offering endless entertainment for the children and easy access to both local towns and big cities.
We came home feeling relaxed but full of stories – from water slides and roller coasters to canal cruises and café-hopping. Duinrell is a fantastic choice for families who want fun, flexibility, and a little bit of adventure all rolled into one.

Taking your child to a festival is such a great family experience. Most festivals are about celebrating music, arts, dance, diversity and so many wonderful things that children need to be exposed to.
With opportunities to learn about different genres of music, have instrument lessons, make crafts, watch theatre, learn circus skills, meet people from all walks of life and spend some quality time together as a fam - why wouldn’t you 👀😍 Many festivals have dedicated family camping fields, which usually have the best facilities. Many have specific kids fields with endless activities for them to enjoy. We are heading to our second festival of the summer in a few weeks time 🙌🏻

So many of you say you’re nervous about the toilets at festivals… but should you be?!
It depends. I have seen some absolute devastating scenes in the long drops, but sometimes you come across a decent one. The busier the area is, the worse they get. Look for toilets in the quieter areas, and if you’ve got kids head to wicket ground family camping for the best loos on site!

The price of the food though 🫣
This festival is not cheap. It is one of our favourite things we do each year so we take the hit, but we probably spent around £500 whilst there across our family of three, which honestly could have been much more.. we bring a stove, kettle, coffee and cereal to save money on breakfast. You can buy fresh milk on site. Bringing our own spirits saved a lot of money on alcoholic drinks. We brought a lot of snacks for Leo to keep him full longer and not demanding £6.50 smoothies 😅
Did you go this year?! What did you think of the food?!
