Jumeirah Mina Al Salam Dubai – An Honest Family Review 2026
Jumeirah Mina Al Salam Dubai – An Honest Family Review 2026
Here is our family review of Jumeirah Mina Al Salam, part of the iconic Madinat Jumeirah resort. It feels like someone mixed ancient Arabia with a Hollywood film set, it really is stunning. The full resort is made up of Mina Al Salam, Al Qasr, Al Naseem and the villa-style Dar Al Masyaf all linked by dreamy waterways and palm-filled walkways. Add Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the new Marsa Al Arab (just a short buggy ride away), and you’ve basically got one of the best family hotels and resorts in Dubai.
We’ve stayed here several times when the boys were tiny, but once they hit school age the half-term prices pushed it out of reach… until I spotted an amazing August Dubai hotel deal at Mina Al Salam. We paid £5,600 for 9 nights, flying Emirates on half board with Club Lounge access, for 2 adults and 2 kids. Still a big price tag, but honestly a bargain for Dubai, in cooler months this resort can be double or triple.
We wanted to revisit with our now 7 and 11 year old to see if it could still hold the top spot for us in Dubai.
Check The Travel Mum Middle East page for these type of deals.
Dubai in August With Kids – Is It Too Hot?
If you’re wondering whether a Dubai family holiday in August is madness… I’m here to confirm it’s 100% doable and enjoyable. It reached 38°C while we were at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam, but Dubai is built for the heat. This summer was actually cooler than previous years, low humidity made surprisingly comfortable evenings.
Why Dubai with kids in summer works brilliantly:
- Temperature-controlled pools
- Buggies and abras to transport you so you’re never walking far
- Lovely cooled, beautifully air-conditioned restaurants
- Endless indoor attractions if you want a break from the sun
I promise we wouldn’t keep returning in August if the kids didn’t love it (and us).
Arrival at our Ocean View Club Room at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam
Our Emirates flight was smooth (as always), with the usual kid-friendly extras. Dubai Airport was fast and stress-free. We skipped private transfers and grabbed a cream coloured taxi which are quick, reliable and far cheaper than the fancy ones. The fancy looking ones do cost more.
We arrived at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam at 10pm and had a warm, simple check-in which is exactly what shattered parents need.
We booked an Ocean View Club Room (one of the most popular family rooms at Mina Al Salam). It was gorgeous with Arabian décor, a huge marble bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the Arabian Gulf and waterways.
The mega-bed could fit us all in but there was a sofa bed for the kids, this was already made up (late-night parenting WIN). As we walked into the room the kids were amazed at two Jumeirah teddies waiting for them along with pool frisbees to play with. We also had chocolates, dates and cute children’s toiletries all provided. Everything was thought about.
Each evening we received a lovely turn-down service with chocolates and little treats. If I had to pick a fault with the room the wardrobe was a little small for a family of four.
Club Lounge Review – Is Jumeirah Mina Al Salam’s Amal Club Lounge Worth It for Families?
Absolutely yes especially coupled with half board. We often try to get club lounge access because we find it saves on the overall bill.
The Amal Club Lounge at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam includes:
- Breakfast (7:30–11:30am)
- Afternoon tea (3–4:30pm)
- Sundowners with alcoholic drinks & canapés (5:30–7:30pm)
- Soft drinks all day
Because Dubai is 3 hours ahead, afternoon tea often became our lunch, saving lots on lunch bills. If you enjoy an alcoholic drink or two in the evenings the sundowners also save you a fair bit.
The lounge has amazing views from the outside terrace, a little hot to sit out there in the summer but would be beautiful in the cooler months.
Two stand out features of this club lounge access for us are:
Sundowners delivered poolside at Cala Vista
This is one of the best club perks in Dubai. No rushing kids inside, no getting dressed just sit, relax and order your drinks while the kids splash. Only Atlantis currently offers something similar. You don’t have to leave the Cala Vista pool, the sundowner menu becomes available at 5.30pm or it might have been 5pm by the pool.
There’s a kids’ playroom in the Club lounge
A game-changer for parents. Not supervised, but inside the lounge so easy to monitor. Club lounges usually lack much for kids but this was a fab space where kids could play.
The lounge is fairly big, service was excellent but a bit less personalised than some smaller club lounges. But the food? Top-tier, beautifully presented, with the occasional caviar-and-gold moment… classic Dubai.
Jumeirah Mina Al Salam’s E-Butler Service – The BEST Time Saving Hack for Families
This deserves its own shoutout. You get a QR code at check-in that links to a WhatsApp e-butler. We used it to:
- Book restaurants
- Order extra water
- Get info about daily family activities
- Ask random questions
Responses were instant. No trekking to reception. No waiting. Perfect for a family holiday in Dubai. The boys sharing a sofa bed at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam wasn’t working out too well (lots of sibling arguments over whose leg touched whose) which started to drive us mad at night time. I messaged the e-butler to explain and when we came back to the room after the pool an extra bed had been put into the room. Such great service and so hassle free.
Exploring the Madinat Jumeirah Resort – A Family Paradise
Abra Boats – A Highlight for Kids (and adults!)
The traditional wooden abras glide through the waterways, making getting around feel like a luxury ride at a theme park. You take them to restaurants, the Souk, Kids Club, or just for fun. At night, with the Burj Al Arab lit up it really feels magical. The Abra drivers are full of interesting facts and stories which the kids loved. These little boats were such a unique way to travel around a resort.
Madinat Souk – The Best Air-Conditioned Stroll
The Souk Madinat Jumeirah is brilliant for shopping, wandering and cooling off. Expect haggling, great cafés and plenty of kid-friendly restaurants. Be prepared to leave with far too many souvenirs that the kids fall in love with! This is a nice activity after an evening meal, it has a lovely vibe in the evening and a great way to walk dinner off before bed.
Family Dining – 50+ Restaurants to Choose From
Half-board options change seasonally, but we had loads of choice. Some restaurants carry a supplement charge but for the level of restaurant this is still a good deal. There is a lot to pick from, so making a plan of the places you want to go to before you arrive is a good idea. You can book these via the e-butler or you can e-mail before you arrive. Our favourites were:
- Pai Thai – magical, romantic and worth the supplement especially arriving by Abra.
- The Hide – brilliant for families
- Cala Vista – Amazing Italian with live singing
- Hanaaya – perfect breakfast, elegant evening buffet
All were great with kids, the kids menu had 3 courses and there was always something for picky eaters and adventurous ones.
Drinks are not included on half board so this is where the overall bill can start to add up.
Jumeirah Mina Al Salam Kids Club Review – Al Qasr Kids Club & Splash Area
The Kids Club at Al Qasr has an amazing shaded splash pad with slides and mini golf. You can use the outdoor area whenever you like with no booking required. There are a few loungers in here also so you can set up base in here for part of the day.
Inside, the club is bright, modern and full of immersive play areas and soft play.
Each child gets one complimentary session per day.
- Ages 5-10: full-day sessions
- Ages 2-4: morning or afternoon sessions
Parents can join younger kids if they don’t want to stay alone.
A great feature of this kids club is that they offer organised family activities. Activities like paddle boarding and turtle feeding for the whole family which is great to all do as a family activity.
Jumeirah Mina Al Salam Pools & Beach – The Best Spots for Families at Mina Al Salam
Cala Vista Pool
In summer, it’s open to all guests but I believe it’s for Jumeirah Mina Al Salam club lounge guests only in the cooler months. Think shaded beds, huge pillows (yes actual pillows on your lounger), chilled water, cold towels, fruit platters and ice lollies all complimentary. This is one of the nicest hotel pools in Dubai, the view is perfect and the service was fantastic. You can order via the service button on the loungers or via QR code. Never any sunbed wars and they even have an SPF station incase you forgot yours or need a top up. The kids still managed to eat pizza poolside in the height of summer, it’s really not as hot as you imagine when you are by a pool.
Infinity Pool
Set on the beach, more adult vibes, loungers on the beach. Really pretty but we didn’t use it much as the kids preferred the other pool.
Money-saving tip for families:
Use the InstShop app to order inflatables and pool toys. Delivered same day and far cheaper than hotel shops.
The Beach
Long, private, stunning views of the Burj Al Arab. The sea is super warm in August, but there’s an ice-cream stop on the way down to help you stay cool. We enjoyed a few gorgeous sunset swims and snorkels. It is a bit too hot in August to enjoy the beach for long but evenings are the best time to visit the beach.
Wild Wadi Waterpark – The Best Family Perk of Staying at Jumeirah
Staying at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam gets you free access to Wild Wadi Waterpark which is perfect in summer.
We hopped on a buggy, were given towels, and entered through the private guest entrance.
Wild Wadi is smaller than Atlantis, which is a huge advantage in August:
- Everything is close
- No endless stair climbing
- Less crowded
- Great for toddlers to teens
We arrived for opening time and enjoyed a couple of hours here each time and it was perfect. Not too big to walk around in the summer and enough crazy slides for my adrenaline seeking child but also some nice calm slides and areas for younger ones. We spent quite a few mornings here in the lazy river, wave pool and racing down some crazy slides. Hotel guests also benefit from discounted food and drinks.
After a few hours here we used to hop next door into Jumeirah Beach hotel for a little nose about and a nice refreshing drink in the lobby café area before catching a buggy back to Jumeirah Mina Al Salam pool.
What We Loved
- Truly the best family-friendly resort in Dubai
- Magical abra rides
- Endless dining options
- E-butler service
- Family activities at Kids Club
- Wild Wadi Waterpark access
- Stunning beach
- Incredible staff
- Big summer discounts
It genuinely feels like paradise tucked inside the city.
What Could Improve
- The Club Lounge is large, so slightly less personalised service but I’m being really fussy here.
- No evening entertainment (common in Dubai, but a games room would be brilliant)
- You used to be able to use any pool within all the Jumeirah hotels but now you are meant to stick to the pool of the hotel you are staying in. We didn’t mind this but it was a fantastic feature before.
Jumeirah Mina Al Salam – Overall
Travel Mum Score: (5/5)
We absolutely LOVED our stay at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam. It’s luxurious yet relaxed, polished yet genuinely family-friendly. The wider Madinat complex makes it feel so unique with boats, a souk, beaches, so many restaurants… easily enough to fill a full week, you need longer.
When I asked the boys what they loved most?
Wild Wadi, the pool, and the staff.
The perfect Dubai family holiday.

PR How much do you think it would cost to stay in a place like this?! The villa has 6 ensuite bedrooms and is ideal for a group of friends or big multigenerational family. It’s only a 4 minute drive to Amalfi Town and has some lovely restaurants close by. The villa team helped arrange our transfer from Naples making the whole trip really easy.
If you have 12 people sharing the cost, using an example in May, it would be £142pp/pn - which for this super luxury experience is very reasonable!
