4 Mori Family Village, Sardinia: a practical guide for families

If your ideal family holiday involves a beach, a pool and nobody needing to put proper shoes on for most of the week, 4 Mori Family Village in Sardinia is worth a look.

Available to book through Eurocamp, this seaside holiday village combines self-catering accommodation with swimming pools, children’s activities and direct beach access. You can keep things simple with pool days and pasta, or hire a car and explore more of the island (which is absolutely gorgeous!)

But which airport do you need, what’s there for children, and what should you factor into your budget? Here’s the practical information to help you plan.

Where is 4 Mori Family Village?

4 Mori family village is near Muravera, on Sardinia’s south-east coast. The nearest airport is Cagliari, around an hour’s drive away, making it the most convenient starting point when searching for flights.

Check the arrival airport carefully before grabbing a flight bargain. Saving on airfare is less exciting if you then spend half your first day driving across the island with children asking whether you’re nearly there. On the other hand, you might find flying in to alternative airports like Olbia or Alghero offers more flight options from the UK – always compare your options.

I’d compare flights and accommodation together before committing to either, particularly during school holidays.

Do you need to hire a car?

For flexibility, I would budget for one. The village says it isn’t served by public transport, and Muravera’s shops and supermarket are around ten minutes away by car.

You can arrange an airport transfer and spend most of your stay on site. There’s also a paid, pre-bookable morning shuttle to Muravera and car hire available through the village. Check availability and prices before relying on these.

Compare the total cost of return transfers against hiring a car for your stay. Include child seats, insurance and fuel, rather than just the tempting headline rental price. We hired a car and loved exploring the beautiful nearby beaches.

What is the Eurocamp accommodation like?

Eurocamp offers mobile-home accommodation at 4 Mori village, so this is camping with beds and a bathroom rather than trying to assemble a tent. Some people turn their noses up at this, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! We absolutely love a Eurocamp holiday and find the accommodation really comfortable. (as long as there’s AC!)

The appeal for families is having your own space and self-catering facilities. Breakfast can happen whenever everyone wakes up, and you can prepare something familiar for picky eaters.

Before booking, check your particular accommodation’s bedroom layout, air conditioning, outdoor seating and kitchen equipment. Also confirm whether bed linen, towels, cleaning and baby equipment are included or cost extra. You often need to add bedding packs separately.

What are the swimming pools like?

The AquaGarden has two swimming pools, including the children’s Laguna Beach pool. This has a large soft slide and is just 35cm deep at its centre, making it particularly appealing for younger children who enjoy splashing and paddling. Children still need close supervision, of course.

Think family pool time rather than a huge waterpark packed with towering slides. That distinction matters if you’re booking for older children whose main holiday requirement is being launched down something terrifying.

The pools are unheated, which is worth considering for a stay outside the hottest summer months. Always check opening dates and pool rules for your trip.

Can you walk to the beach?

Yes – direct beach access is one of the biggest attractions. Having sand and sea on your doorstep means you can switch between beach and pool with minimal fuss.

There’s a wide sandy beach, with an organised area offering sunbeds and parasols alongside space to enjoy the public beach.

Bring something for shade and a bag you don’t mind filling with sand. We always pack foldable buckets with spades , plus a ball to skim in the sea, for a cheap afternoon at the beach.

What else is there for children?

Alongside the pools and beach, there’s a playground and an entertainment programme with games, activities and evening fun.

During high season, the village advertises clubs for different age groups:

  • Baby Club: ages 1 – 3.
  • Mini Club: ages 4 – 8.
  • Junior Club: ages 9 – 12.
  • Teen Club: ages 13 – 17.

There are also mini discos and evening shows, with the busiest activity programme during summer.

Check the arrangements for your dates, including languages spoken, booking requirements and whether parents need to stay. A Baby Club listing doesn’t automatically mean drop-off childcare.

The residential areas are car-free, another useful feature for families with little ones.

Where can you eat?

There’s a restaurant-pizzeria, a central bar and Mori’s Beach Bar & Restaurant, giving you options when you want a break from cooking. Takeaway is available too – handy when the children have reached their daily limit for sitting nicely at a table.

For self-catering, there’s an on-site mini market for groceries and everyday essentials. Check its seasonal opening if travelling outside summer.

Our budget approach would be simple breakfasts, easy lunches and a few meals out. You don’t have to cook every evening to make having a kitchen worthwhile. Even keeping drinks, snacks and breakfast supplies in the accommodation can help control spending.

How do you keep the holiday affordable?

Compare the complete holiday cost, including:

  • Accommodation and flights.
  • Luggage and airport parking.
  • Car hire or transfers.
  • Food and spending money.
  • Accommodation extras and paid activities.

A few simple choices can help keep the total down:

Be flexible with your travel dates. Try shifting your arrival date by a day or two where possible. It can make a big difference to flight prices, even when the accommodation cost barely changes. Compare different trip lengths too – you don’t have to go for exactly seven nights.

Check alternative airports. Flying from a little further away can sometimes save a ton of money. Just factor in the extra fuel, parking and the whinging kids before deciding if its worth while!

Compare accommodation options. Look at what the more expensive mobile homes actually add. An extra bathroom or bedroom might make family life considerably easier, but there’s little point paying for extra capacity you won’t use. AC however is always worth paying for!

Use the kitchen without spending your holiday cooking. Breakfast at your accommodation, sandwiches for lunch and a few easy dinners can make a big difference. Pasta, pesto, job done. You’re feeding the family, you’ve got no one to impress.

Do a supermarket shop early in your stay. If you have a car, pick up breakfast supplies, drinks, snacks and easy meals from a big local supermarket. The on-site shop is convenient for top-ups, but compare prices before doing your whole week’s shopping there. Buying multipacks of ice creams can also soften the financial impact of children who apparently need one every afternoon.

Pack with your luggage allowance in mind. Check what your airline includes before booking, and compare the cost of a shared checked bag against adding cabin bags for everyone. Bring the essentials you already own, such as sun hats and swimming goggles, to avoid buying them again on arrival. You can wash clothes there, you don’t need a new outfit every day.

Check extras before you pay. Confirm what’s included for linen, towels, cleaning and baby equipment.

Make the most of simple beach and pool days. You don’t need a paid excursion every day. A bucket, a spade and a picnic can provide hours of entertainment – potentially longer than the expensive activity you thought they’d love.

For families who want beach access, pool time and the freedom to self-cater, 4 Mori Family Village offers a convenient combination. You can mix days on site with exploring Sardinia, without feeling you need to fill every day with plans.

Would the speedo rule put you off holidaying somewhere?!

It’s well known that many camp sites and pools in France have this rule, but this is the first time we’ve actually encountered it for ourselves. I hear that some men say they would never, but honestly, everyone looks great and no one is looking at anyone else 😅🫶🏻

Ad Have you seen this parc?! 😍

Bella Italia is a brilliant option if you are looking for a @eurocampholidays - we visited here followed by Union Lido, another Eurocamp which I posted about before this.

Verona airport is the closest, but Bergamo is another great option and the airport we flew to.

Have you been on a Eurocamp holiday?! Which has been your favourite?!

Taking your child to a festival is such a great family experience. Most festivals are about celebrating music, arts, dance, diversity and so many wonderful things that children need to be exposed to.

With opportunities to learn about different genres of music, have instrument lessons, make crafts, watch theatre, learn circus skills, meet people from all walks of life and spend some quality time together as a fam - why wouldn’t you 👀😍 Many festivals have dedicated family camping fields, which usually have the best facilities. Many have specific kids fields with endless activities for them to enjoy. We are heading to our second festival of the summer in a few weeks time 🙌🏻

So many of you say you’re nervous about the toilets at festivals… but should you be?!

It depends. I have seen some absolute devastating scenes in the long drops, but sometimes you come across a decent one. The busier the area is, the worse they get. Look for toilets in the quieter areas, and if you’ve got kids head to wicket ground family camping for the best loos on site!

The price of the food though 🫣

This festival is not cheap. It is one of our favourite things we do each year so we take the hit, but we probably spent around £500 whilst there across our family of three, which honestly could have been much more.. we bring a stove, kettle, coffee and cereal to save money on breakfast. You can buy fresh milk on site. Bringing our own spirits saved a lot of money on alcoholic drinks. We brought a lot of snacks for Leo to keep him full longer and not demanding £6.50 smoothies 😅

Did you go this year?! What did you think of the food?!
