Looking for the Best Family Resorts in Spain? We’ve got you covered!

If you’re planning a summer family holiday, one of the best times to book is between January and March. This is when you’ll find some of the best deals, free child places, and flexible payment options that make budgeting easier. Major travel providers are offering some fantastic deals at the moment:

  • TUI – Tons of great deals updated often
  • Jet2holidays – £60 off per person
  • On The Beach – Free lounge access, fast track or mobile data

By booking early, you get more availability, meaning better accommodation choices, low deposit options, and the ability to spread the cost over several months.

Package holidays vs DIY – Which is best?

Package holidays

For many families, a package holiday is the most convenient option. It usually includes:

  • Free child places
  • Transfers
  • Ability to pay in instalments
  • Extra support from tour operators
  • Generally less faff

These holidays take the hassle out of booking and are perfect for busy families who don’t have the time to research and package together the various elements separately.

DIY holidays

If you’re looking for a cheaper and more flexible alternative, a DIY holiday could be the better choice for you. Booking everything separately can help you:

  • Save money
  • Choose alternative transport eg using public buses instead of expensive transfers
  • Visit unique locations that aren’t in the typical tourist hot spots
  • Have multi destination trips

Our ‘Start your Journey’ search feature makes it easy to build your own DIY holiday while keeping costs down. You only have to do one search to find both flights and hotels. We only source well rated hotels in good locations to save you time.

So, why Spain for a family friendly holiday?

Spain is one of the most family-friendly destinations in Europe. It really does offer something for everyone whether you choose the beautiful Balearic or Canary Islands, or the stunning cities and beaches on the mainland. This list of the best family resorts in Spain will help make sure you have a fantastic family trip.

Here are some reasons why Spain is the perfect choice for your summer family holiday in 2025:

  • Year-round sunshine – Some regions get over 300 days of sunshine a year! Perfect to get your Vitamin D all year round.
  • Beautiful beaches and nature – From golden beaches to mountain landscapes, Spain has it all.
  • Varied family-friendly experiences – you can visit theme parks, waterparks, and fun-filled activities for all ages. But there’s also historic towns to explore so it caters for diverse travel preferences.
  • Great food and welcoming culture – Tuck into delicious tapas and experience warm hospitality. Spaniards adore children and have a family-centric culture.
  • Affordable – Spain is budget-friendly, with affordable accommodation, dining, and free or low-cost activities for families.
  • Easy to travel to – Short flights from the UK and excellent public transport makes Spain super convenient to explore.

Best family resorts in Spain

Spain has so many family-friendly destinations, including beaches, islands, cities, and resorts to choose from.

It has been a popular summer family holiday destination for decades thanks to its warm climate, family-friendly destinations and short flight times from the UK. But despite having some of the best beaches in Europe, it’s so much more than a bucket-and-spade break! From Barcelona to the Balearics, we’ve rounded up some of the best family destinations in Spain to help you plan your next family holiday.

Costa del Sol: Best family resorts in Spain for a laid back holiday

The Costa del Sol is perfect for beach-loving families, with stunning sandy shores and family attractions. Highlights include:

  • Malaga – A vibrant, historical city to explore with a lively atmosphere.
  • Estepona – A charming traditional town with a beachside playground for kids.
  • Torremolinos – Home to Aqualand, one of Spain’s best waterparks.

Resort recommendation: Globales Los Patos Park

For a fun-filled summer family holiday, Globales Los Patos Park is a fantastic choice. The resort features an exciting on-site splash park with slides, a pirate ship, and a water cannon that kids will love. For older children and adults, there’s an aqua park so they won’t need to miss out on the fun!

This hotel is close to the beach so you can easily switch between beach or pool days and there’s also a children’s club, sports, activities, and entertainment. And with All Inclusive available there’s no need to leave the hotel! Definitely one of the best family resorts in Spain with a little bit of everything.

Barcelona offers a mix of urban and seaside fun with stunning architecture, beaches, and fun-filled attractions. Highlights include:

  • Park Güell – a public park known for its unique architecture and stunning views of Barcelona

Resort recommendation: Hotel Estival Park and Apartments  (PLUS! Includes 3-day pass to PortAventura World)

With two pools, regular themed nights, and a three-day pass to PortAventura World, this is one of the best family resorts in Spain.

It takes less than five minutes to walk to the beach and only another five to the town’s restaurants and bars. A 15-minute taxi ride will get you to PortAventura World, the third-largest theme park in Europe, and your holiday includes a three-day pass!

The hotel is split into two buildings, each with its own pool, and there’s also a rooftop pool for adults and two splash pools for kids. There are buffet restaurants for each building and you can go to any pool or restaurant.

Resort recommendation 2: Iberostar Waves Las Dalias, Tenerife

This hotel is set right in the heart of Tenerife’s beach capital, the Costa Adeje.

Lanzarote resort recommendation: Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort

The Princess Yaiza Suite is a beach-side, luxury hotel. Expect a welcoming glass of cava and a turn-down service at night. It’s ideal for beach lovers, too, with a sandy stretch just outside.

There are four pools, plus a smaller number for children, and an adults-only hot tub . When it comes to dining, there’s a buffet restaurant, with a selection of dishes from around the world and you can enjoy drinks whilst listening to mellow music at one of two contemporary bars.

Resort recommendation 2 : TUI BLUE Flamingo Beach

We have previously stayed here and it’s a great, budget-friendly option right by the beach.

Kids can rule the roost at this hotel and TUI BLUE Flamingo Beach caters for them perfectly. There are slides galore with colourful water chutes in the playground, splash pool and soft play zones and the kids can dance into the early evenings at the kids’ club. Then, when it comes to eating there’s a trio of restaurants catering for all taste buds.

The hotel is right by the pushchair-friendly promenade, which is packed with restaurants and you’ll find a waterpark a 10-minute stroll away.

Andalusia: Best family resorts in Spain for Exploring

If you love history and culture, Andalusia is a fantastic choice. It’s known for its Moorish history, flamenco dancing, and warm hospitality. We recently did a camper van trip around this region which we highly recommend. Highlights include:

  • Alhambra in Granada – One of Spain’s most beautiful historic sites.
  • Seville’s Plaza de España – A stunning cultural hotspot.
  • Cádiz Beaches – Golden sands and a relaxed atmosphere.

Resort recommendation: Royal Hideaway Sancti Petri

The ultimate coastal spa. The Royal Hideaway Sancti Petri is located in Novo Sancti Petri-Chiclana on the vast Costa de la Luz, right on the long, fine sandy beach of La Barrosa. This hotel boasts the largest spa in Andalucia, which has been recognised as the Best Spa Resort in Spain. Resort recommendation 1: Zafiro Tropic

At the Zafiro Tropic, you’ll have your pick of four pools, including an adults-only chill-out pool and a pirate-themed kids’ pool. It sits in a central location in Alcudia, just five minutes’ walk from a beach. The port’s bars and restaurants are also only a 10-minute stroll away.

The apartments come with all your cooking essentials, like a hob, a fridge and a microwave. You can upgrade to a premium one-bedroom apartment that has a pool view from the balcony.

This is a great family holiday option. There are a variety of themed onsite hotels at Portaventura and also peripheral hotels that often include tickets.

Comment “Spain” and I’ll send you a DM with some links. For a lower budget option, look at peripheral hotels. We loved the onsite Colorado creek but it is on the more expensive side of how you can visit.

Links we send are affiliate links. We aren’t asked to post or promote particular places.

The first thing we noticed online is how many “regulars” this place seems to have. People don’t just go once, they return year on year. The best sign of a great place. And after visiting we can see why. Although it is expensive, you get what you pay for. The ease of everything already being covered means the holiday feels like a holiday. We didn’t have to say no to the kids when they wanted to do an activity, they could do whatever they wanted.

To help you with the cost I’ve got you a discount code for £100 off per person! Which is a huge saving for a family. Comment “potters” and I’ll send you the code and more info. You need to book this month for either May bank hol, May half term, or the summer hols.

We were invited for a PR visit but had no pressure to post. I always tell brands that we won’t promote something if we don’t think it’s fab 🫶🏻❤️
