Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel Eurocamp Near Efteling – An Honest Family Review 2026
If youāre planning a trip to Efteling theme park in the Netherlands and wondering whether to stay on-site or look nearby, Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel is the perfect Eurocamp option and will help keep the price tag down. We spent 2 nights at the closest Eurocamp to Efteling called Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel during May half term and honestly, it ended up being exactly what we needed after the excitement (and exhaustion) of the theme park. With outdoor pools, water slides, nature trails, play parks everywhere and easy access to Efteling without needing a car, this Eurocamp worked brilliantly for our family.
So hereās our honest review of Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel Eurocamp and whether we think itās worth adding onto your Efteling adventure.
Where Is Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel?
Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel Eurocamp is located in Kaatsheuvel in the Netherlands and sits in a really handy position between family attractions and nature.
For us, the biggest selling point was location. We werenāt travelling with a car and still found it incredibly easy. Efteling was around an 8-minute uber ride away, meaning we could enjoy all the magic of the theme park without staying in the middle of the busy resort area.
Another amazing feature that attracted us to this Eurocamp was that you walk through the playground area and youāre suddenly in the beautiful Loonse en Drunense Duinen, one of the largest drifting sand areas in Western Europe. Honestly, it feels bizarre in the best possible way. One minute youāre at a family holiday park and the next youāre standing in huge sand dunes. The boys were mesmerised by these as they couldn’t believe there was so much sand and no sea! Amazing bike trails all through these sand dunes, it was a heat wave when we went so we didn’t get to try out the bike trails but they looked fab.
The location makes this feel much more than somewhere to simply sleep between theme park days. You feel like you escape away to a proper holiday when you come back to the park. I would definitely recommend booking a few extra days after Efteling so that you can relax and combine a theme park holiday with a relaxing holiday (well the kids didn’t relax).
How We Travelled To Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel Without A Car
One thing that surprised us most about this trip was just how easy it was without driving. We flew from Bristol to Amsterdam and the flight itself was really short and easy, under an hour so perfect when travelling with kids because nobody had chance to get too bored before we were landing.
Once we arrived, things got even easier because the train station is actually inside Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, so thereās no extra transfers or hunting around for transport when you land.
From the airport, we caught a direct train to Den Bosch, officially called ās-Hertogenbosch. The train journey itself was straightforward and comfortable and our train fares came to around ā¬52.
A really useful thing to know if travelling with children, Dutch train travel is surprisingly affordable for kids. Children aged 4ā11 can travel using a Railrunner ticket which costs just ā¬2.50 for unlimited travel for the day when travelling with an adult. Children under 4 travel free. Much more affordable than UK rail travel!
The train journey took around 50 minutes From Den Bosch station. Lovely clean trains and to our surprise we went on a double decker train, as you can imagine this caused a lot of excitement with two boys! Once at Den Bosch you can order an Uber to Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel, which is cheaper than a taxi waiting outside but still quite pricey and cost pretty much the same as the train fare. So I would be smarter next time and catch a bus.
The Uber journey took around 20ā25 minutes, but like I said If you want to save money, buses run from the station area towards Kaatsheuvel and work out much cheaper than repeated taxi journeys.
Overall though, we found the whole route surprisingly straightforward and wouldnāt hesitate to do it again without a car. You just need to budget in this part of your journey. If your closest airport flies to Eindhoven then the transfer is a lot shorter.
Our Premium 3 Bedroom Lodge at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel
We stayed in one of the premium 3-bedroom lodges at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel overlooking the nature reserve and the location was perfect, my nature loving little one loved spotting birds and frogs whilst my older one enjoyed that there was a small play area really close.
Having lovely open views onto the little nature reserve made sitting on our terrace feel pretty special. We opted to have bedding & towels provided so we didn’t have to bring any of these things which makes life easier when packing for a short trip.
The Lodge was beautifully clean, with a lounge, kitchen area, 3 bedrooms, a shower room and a separate toilet. I love that the boys could have a room each, which means they actually went to sleep and didn’t have to share a bed. I love a hotel stay but the space you get at Eurocamps really can’t be beaten.
The Lodge had a dishwasher and a coffee machine and everything you need to cook in the lodge if you wished to or use the spotlessly clean BBQ on your terrace.
After spending all day walking around Efteling, having somewhere spacious to return to was a game changer. Time to sit out on your terrace and unwind was perfect.
Because we visited during May half term and somehow lucked out with gorgeous weather, we actually got to enjoy our outside space properly which made the stay feel much more like a holiday than just accommodation. Also the park didn’t feel busy at all even though it was UK Half term. It’s a great time to visit as the Dutch are at school so Efteling and all accommodation was not at full capacity.
Facilities At Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel
This isnāt one of those enormous Eurocamps where you need a map and shuttle bus just to find the playground.
Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel is smaller and more compact, which, after clocking up a huge step counts at Efteling, this actually worked really well for us.
You can easily walk around the whole site, the boys quickly worked out where everything was and it felt much calmer than some of the larger Eurocamps weāve visited.
Water Slides & Splash Areas
The boys immediately headed for the outdoor water slides and spent a huge amount of time here during our stay.
There are three large water slides alongside a lovely smaller splash area with mini slides for younger children. There isnāt a traditional outdoor swimming pool, but honestly, with the splash zone and slides, we didnāt feel like we missed it.
For us, this was exactly what was needed after two full on Efteling days. The boys were happy endlessly repeating the slides while we managed to grab two loungers and actually sit down for five minutes.
That alone felt like a holiday win.
Indoor Pool & Splash Area
If the Dutch weather decides not to cooperate, thereās also a lovely warm indoor pool located right next to the outdoor slides.
You can easily move between the indoor and outdoor areas, which is really handy if the weather changes throughout the day.
Inside thereās also a really lovely toddler splash zone which younger children would love.
One thing worth knowing if youāre travelling with little ones is the main indoor pool felt fairly deep for younger children, so youāll definitely want to be in the water with them.
The whole pool area opened from 10am and one thing we really noticed was there wasnāt the usual sunrise lounger race you sometimes get at holiday parks.
Play Areas & Soft Play
There are little play areas dotted around Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel, but the main playground outside the restaurant is definitely the star attraction.
You can sit out on the terrace while the kids play right in front of you which is always a parenting bonus.
The play area itself is built on sand and includes:
- A huge bouncy pillow
- Climbing equipment
- Water play features withĀ Interactive channels and structures where kids can redirect water flows
Watching the boys have just as much fun here as they did at Efteling was pretty funny.
Inside, right next to the restaurant, thereās also a huge soft play area. Again, this felt really well thought through because you can keep an eye on them while actually finishing a drink or meal while itās still warm.
Bike Hire
Bike hire was really easy. You can book via QR codes around the park or directly through the restaurant area.
One thing we absolutely had to try were the four-person pedal carts which were much harder work for us parentsĀ than the children but great fun.
With direct access into Loonse en Drunense Duinen and loads of cycling routes nearby, this is definitely something we wish weād had more time for.
Kids Club
We didnāt use the kids club at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel ourselves but there always seemed to be activities happening and plenty of families taking part.
You get given a schedule at check-in with all the activities listed including the all-important mini disco times. If your children enjoy organised entertainment, there definitely seemed to be plenty going on throughout the stay.
Food & Eating On Site at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel
With this not being a huge site I wasn’t sure what to expect from the food offerings at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel. However I was pleasantly surprised. There is one main restaurant, a very small shop and a self service take-away shop which sold drinks, alcohol, Ice cream and snacks.
We ate both lunch and dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed both visits. The food was fresh and tasty and there was lots of choice on the menu for everyone.
You can also order takeaway back to your accommodation which is ideal after a long theme park day when nobody wants to be cooking.
This flexibility was nice to have. You also have that added bonus of a huge soft play one side of the restaurant and a lovely big play park in front of the terrace of the restaurant so we were able to have a nice long leisurely time there as the kids were so happy in the park. An evening meal for the 4 of us with drinks cost £74, this was 4 adult meals and quite a few drinks so pretty reasonable. If your children eat kids meals it will be cheaper.
Shops & Supermarkets Near Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel
One thing to know before arriving, the on-site shop is tiny. You will find basics, drinks, snacks, ice creams and essentials but you probably wonāt want to rely on it for your whole stay. You can get the all important fresh pastries in the morning though.
We used Albert Heijn nearby which had everything we needed. It was a lovely supermarket with an actual florist inside it. I could have spent hours in there but the boys were not keen!
Other nearby supermarket options include:
- Jumbo
- Lidl
- Aldi
My advice would be do one big supermarket shop early on because snack requests multiply rapidly on holiday. Grab some nice BBQ food as the BBQ was a great addition to have during our stay at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel.
Why We Think Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel Works So Well With Efteling
For us, this is where Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel really shines. Efteling is incredible, but itās also tiring. By staying here you can mix up chilled pool days with Efteling to break up the theme park days or you can do Eftleing and then come back and have a few days to chill. Equally this is a fab park for just exploring the Netherlands.
By coming here after Efteling it gave us:
- Pool time
- Outdoor play space
- Less overstimulation
- More affordable accommodation space
- A proper holiday feeling rather than just a theme park trip
- Extra activities without needing more travel days
This combo genuinely worked brilliantly. Instead of rushing home exhausted after Efteling, we felt like we had actually had a holiday too.
Would We Stay at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel Again?
Absolutely yes. If you want somewhere that combines theme park excitement with space to relax, play and slow down a little, Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel worked perfectly for us.
For families visiting Efteling, especially if you want a twin-centre style break, this is definitely worth considering.
For us, it wasnāt just somewhere to sleep after theme park days, it became part of the holiday itself.

Today we lost my Mum š. The most kind, caring, fun-loving woman I know. I made this video for her last month as I wanted to celebrate her while she was with us. She loved it. She asked what I was going to do with the video, and I said āI will post it so everyone can see how amazing you areā¦. when youāre dead I guessā. Then we all laughed. That was the sort of weird, dark humour we all had throughout this awful time.
We said all the things we wanted to say. She knew how much she is loved and how special she is. From the moment she was diagnosed she was positive, grateful and thought of everyone else. Leaving us with the best memories. She has had the most wonderful life, and she left peacefully with me, my brother and my dad by her side, just as she wished. Not everyone gets to leave on such good terms. Content and peaceful.
I cannot thank @stlukessheff for the care they gave my mum (and us) during the last week. My mum doesnāt want a traditional funeral, she had a unique wish for her send off which we will be doing just us. Rather than flowers or condolence gifts, a donation to St Lukeās would be appreciated. There is a link in my linktree where you can donate - we are so close to Ā£10k šš»ā¤ļø
