Wowcher Mystery Holidays – A Complete Guide 2026

Ever thought about booking a Wowcher Mystery Holiday but felt a bit unsure? You’re not alone! These surprise trips can sound too good to be true – but after trying one myself, I’m here to give you the honest lowdown on how they work, the different options, and how you can get the best deal possible.

See All Wowcher Mystery Holidays Here

What exactly is a Wowcher Mystery Holiday?

wowcher-mystery-holidays

It’s a surprise holiday where you book without knowing the destination. You pay a set price for a Wowcher Mystery Holiday (starting around Ā£99 per person), pick your preferred UK departure airport and travel dates, and then let them handle the rest! It’s worth noting that for some deals, you’ll have to pay a fee of Ā£40pp to fly from regional airports like Manchester, so be sure to check the T&Cs before booking. Even with this additional fee (making them around Ā£139pp) – they’re still a great price.

Let’s be real – you could probably DIY your own trip for a similar cost by using a handy tool like our DIY Trip Builder, but the benefit of the Wowcher Mystery Holidays is that if you’re super-lucky, you could end up with one of the top trips like a week in the Maldives!

Your package includes flights and hotel accommodation, usually in a minimum 3-star hotel with your own private en-suite room. You can purchase one here.

How Do I Book and Redeem a Wowcher Mystery Holiday?

  • Buy your Mystery Holiday voucher (most are based on two people sharing, so you’ll need to purchase at least two vouchers).

  • You’ll get the voucher codes and a link to redeem them.

  • Redeem your vouchers by selecting your preferred travel dates and departure airport region.

  • Your holiday destination is revealed during the redemption process.

  • The holiday provider contacts you within a few days with flight and hotel details

What types of destinations are included?

wowcher-mystery-holidays

That depends on the type of Wowcher Mystery Holiday you’ve chosen, but over 100 worldwide destinations are on the table!

Each deal is part of a tiered draw system, which determines what kind of holiday you get:

  • Tier 1 – These are the jackpot holidays. Think long-haul, bucket-list destinations like Maldives, New York, Bali, Barbados, Thailand, Cape Town, Dubai, Las Vegas, and Mexico.

  • Tier 2 – High-quality city breaks and beach escapes, often including places like Venice, Dubrovnik, Marrakech, Athens, or Canary Islands.

  • Tier 3 – These make up the majority of trips and include a wide range of classic European destinations, such as Rome, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Prague, Krakow, Porto, Madrid, Budapest, Paris, and many more.

Each Mystery Holiday deal will tell you exactly how many of each type of holiday are available. For example, you might see a breakdown like:

  • 6 x Tier 1 trips

  • 12 x Tier 2 trips

  • 1,982 x Tier 3 trips

That’s 2,000 holidays in total, and your destination is selected at random from what’s available for your chosen dates. It’s worth being aware that if you ask to fly from Leeds, you are unlikely to be allocated a trip to the Maldives, given long haul flights wont depart from there.

Whether you land a dreamy long-haul trip or a quick European getaway, you’ll always get:

  • A minimum 3-star hotel

  • Direct UK flights

  • And at least 36–40 hours at your destination (more for 3-night stays)

What if I’m Not Happy With My Destination?

Once you redeem your voucher and get your destination reveal, the booking is technically non-refundable – even if it’s not your dream trip. But don’t panic – you’ve still got options.

Official Option (according to the T&Cs):

  • Want to switch? You can ask to change your destination for Ā£20 per person, depending on what else is available.

Not happy with your hotel?

  • Ask about alternatives BEFORE agreeing. When the provider gets in touch, don’t be shy – you can ask what other hotels are available.

  • We were originally given a hotel in Rome that was a bit far from everything, so we asked if they had any others… and they moved us to one closer to the main transport links, no problem.

Basically: it never hurts to ask. The staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful, and if there’s wiggle room, they’ll usually try to help you out.

Which airports can I fly from?

Departure airports are grouped into regions like:

  • London: Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, City & Southend

  • Scotland: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glasgow Prestwick

  • North East: Newcastle, Middlesborough

  • North West: Manchester, Liverpool

  • Yorkshire: Leeds Bradford

  • Midlands: Birmingham, East Midlands

  • Wales: Cardiff

  • South West: Bristol, Southampton

  • Northern Ireland: Belfast

Flights may depart from any airport within your chosen region to get the best deals. Note: £40 per person supplement applies for regional airports outside London.

How Do Wowcher Mystery Holidays Stay So Cheap?

  • You give up destination choice, allowing Wowcher to book flights and hotels that have lower availability or unsold seats/rooms.

  • You’re flexible on travel dates, helping them fill gaps.

  • Flight times can be less convenient (early mornings, late nights).

  • Basic packages don’t include extras like checked baggage or transfers.

  • Regional airports help unlock cheaper flights.

  • Group bookings or solo travelers may pay more.

How much time will I actually spend at my destination?

  • A minimum of 40 hours for 2-night stays departing from London or Manchester.

  • At least 36 hours from other UK airports.

  • For 3-night trips, you get at least 60 hours in resort.

Any tips for getting the best Wowcher Mystery Holiday deal?

  • Be flexible on dates and airports.

  • Book early but redeem vouchers quickly.

  • Budget extra for luggage, transfers, and upgrades.

  • Check your passport, visa rules, and travel advice for destinations.

  • Read all the small print – especially on cancellation policies.

Our Own Wowcher Mystery Holiday Experience

I booked one for my son and me, and we ended up getting Rome – honestly, we loved it!

We flew from Manchester Airport, which came with a Ā£40 per person regional flight fee – something to keep in mind if you’re not flying from London.

Our hotel was basic, but clean and cosy, with super friendly staff.

I actually bartered a little when the holiday provider called to confirm the details, and they were happy to move us to a hotel closer to public transport, which made a big difference! We were able to squeeze loads into our time there – sightseeing, gelato runs, the Colosseum… the lot.

Wowcher Mystery Holidays – Overall

If you’re curious about booking a Wowcher Mystery Holiday, it can be a fun and affordable way to take a break – as long as you’re flexible and open to a bit of unpredictability.

It’s a gamble of course, but for many people, that’s part of the appeal. The booking process is straightforward, the range of potential destinations is impressive, and there’s often more flexibility than you might expect – especially if you’re willing to ask about options once the provider gets in touch.

There’s a certain thrill to it – booking without knowing the destination, waiting for that reveal, and finding out what kind of trip you’ve landed. You could end up somewhere like Rome or Prague… or get really lucky and find yourself heading to the Maldives for Ā£99pp. That’s part of the appeal.

From my own experience, the value was there. We got to explore a new city (Rome) without having to plan every detail, and we genuinely enjoyed it – especially for what we paid. That said, it’s important to go into it with realistic expectations. If you’re someone who likes to control every part of your trip, or you’re booking for a very specific occasion, this probably isn’t the right fit. But if you’re open-minded, up for a bit of adventure, and want to travel on a budget – a Wowcher Mystery Holiday can be a great way to make it happen.

If you’re particular about where you go or prefer full control over your itinerary, you might be better off using something like our DIY Trip Builder to create your own custom getaway with a guaranteed destination.

As an example, using this tool I managed to find a 2-night city break in Paris, France for just£99.95pp, and a short beach break to Albufeira, Portugal for only £89.63pp.

Luca is the biggest ā€œPaw Tallā€ fan, once he hit 90cm we had to check out the new Paw Patrol area at Chessington.

There are 4 rides, you need to be 90cm for them all:
- Chase’s Mountain Mission - A family-friendly coaster.
- Skye’s Helicopter Heroes - A small tower ride or rotating flight ride.
- Zuma’s Hovercraft Adventure - A spinning, rider-controlled drifting ride.
- Marshall’s Firetruck Rescue.

In the centre there’s a playground area with picnic benches. You can also meet the pups throughout the day.

There’s a gift shop that wasn’t TOO extortionate. It was Ā£12 for a small plushie or Ā£8 for a pup fluffy ball thing (this is what we got the boys). There is a hook a duck (catch a bone) game, but I didn’t rate the odds of winning so decided the gift shop would be better value šŸ˜…

It’s quite a small area, but for a paw patrol fan it’s worth a visit! The rest of the park had lots of things for our 90cm 2 year old to do too. Chessington is a fab park for the tiny ones.

I’ve got a link in my linktree to a current hotel offer for Chessington - you get two days of park tickets with an overnight stay and breakfast. That also gets you early entry into the park, which is a great way to do Paw Patrol land with short queues.
