Flying From Newcastle Airport made easy

Newcastle airport metro

How do I get to Newcastle International Airport?

Newcastle International Airport is just a ten minute drive from Newcastle city centre, making it really easy to reach by public transport. The airport has its own stop on the Tyne & Wear Metro system and the journey time via metro from the city centre is just over 30 minutes. The metro link makes it super easy to connect from local and national rail links, just join the metro at Newcastle’s Central Station and get on the green line bound for the Airport taking only 30-40 minutes.

If you’re looking to get from Newcastle city centre by bus, you can take the X78 to Darras Hall from Eldon Square bus station, the journey time is around 20 minutes with a short walk from the bus stop to the Airport building.

What parking does Newcastle Airport have?

The airport has 5 different car park options in total, two premium, two short stay and one long stay. The two premium options offer the closest parking to the terminal for check in with only a 1 minute walk and there is the option to park yourself or use the meet and greet service and simply drop your keys off and let the staff take care of the rest.

The short stay car parks are both still within easy reach of the terminal building with a 1-2 minute or a 2-4 minute walk.

The long stay car park is a 10 minute drive from the Aiport terminal and is served by a free coach shuttle service to and from the terminal.

As always, the place to find the best price for your holiday parking is by using our looking4parking link and our exclusive discount code here.

What lounges are available at Newcastle Airport?

Newcastle International is served by an Aspire lounge and an adults only Aspire Suite. Anyone can pay to access the lounge and suite, regardless of which airline and class you are flying.

The lounge offers free WiFi, complimentary drinks and snacks, including wine, beer and spirits. There’s also a selection of magazines and newspapers to help pass the time until you are ready for boarding.

The Aspire Suite is the ideal space for some pre flight relaxation if you happen to be travelling without children. The Suite offers an unrivalled view of the airfield and you can expect welcome drinks and at seat service for the range of premium food and drink options on offer.

To find the Aspire Lounge, you’ll need to walk through World Duty free towards departures, take the escalator down and the Lounge is on the right hand side.

Whsmiths, newcastle airport

What shops are available at Newcastle Aiport?

Are you thinking if you’ve seen one airport duty free you’ve seen them all, I’d probably be inclined to agree with you and Newcastle is no different. You’ll find World Duty Free, JD Sports, WHSmith, Accessorize and InMotion.

Top travelling tip to save packing space is to use Boots click and collect and select the airport store to collect from, perfect for picking up your suncream, shampoo or any last minute toiletries. For an extra savvy holiday spend, use TopCashback for your Boots order for 8% cashback. Not used TopCashback before? You can join using our referral link here.

Comment CITY and I’ll send you the link you need to get the list. These city breaks are ATOL protected packages with Jet2citybreaks, the price includes flights, 22kg of luggage each and your hotel stay. You can get free child places with Jet2hols and infants under 2 travel for free, which can save you a lot as a family.

A quick google of “things to do in [city] with kids” will help you decide which city is for you. Coastal cities like Palma and Alicante can give the best of both worlds, with near by beaches, alongside lots of history and culture.

The links we share in our emails are affiliate links ❤️

Luca is the biggest “Paw Tall” fan, once he hit 90cm we had to check out the new Paw Patrol area at Chessington.

There are 4 rides, you need to be 90cm for them all:
- Chase’s Mountain Mission - A family-friendly coaster.
- Skye’s Helicopter Heroes - A small tower ride or rotating flight ride.
- Zuma’s Hovercraft Adventure - A spinning, rider-controlled drifting ride.
- Marshall’s Firetruck Rescue.

In the centre there’s a playground area with picnic benches. You can also meet the pups throughout the day.

There’s a gift shop that wasn’t TOO extortionate. It was £12 for a small plushie or £8 for a pup fluffy ball thing (this is what we got the boys). There is a hook a duck (catch a bone) game, but I didn’t rate the odds of winning so decided the gift shop would be better value 😅

It’s quite a small area, but for a paw patrol fan it’s worth a visit! The rest of the park had lots of things for our 90cm 2 year old to do too. Chessington is a fab park for the tiny ones.

I’ve got a link in my linktree to a current hotel offer for Chessington - you get two days of park tickets with an overnight stay and breakfast. That also gets you early entry into the park, which is a great way to do Paw Patrol land with short queues.
