Villa Santa Croce, Amalfi: An Honest Review | 2026
When people think of the Amalfi Coast, they often picture a once-in-a-lifetime trip with a price tag to match. And while it’s definitely more of a luxury destination, our recent stay at Villa Santa Croce proved it can be surprisingly good value if you’re travelling as a group. When we visited in June, rates started from around €1,700 per night. Split between 12 guests, that’s roughly £142 per person, per night for a private villa on one of the most sought-after stretches of coastline in the world.
We stayed there for a girls’ trip and team training retreat, and it genuinely exceeded our expectations. The views are every bit as incredible as they look in the photos, the hospitality was exceptional, and it’s one of those rare places that somehow manages to be even better in real life than it is online.
Is Villa Santa Croce Suitable for Families?
Although our trip was adults only, it’s easy to see why Villa Santa Croce works so well for families. The large living spaces, private pool, multiple terraces and fully equipped kitchen give families far more flexibility than a hotel stay. Parents can enjoy evenings together after the children are asleep, while older children and teenagers have plenty of room to spread out.
For larger family groups travelling together, sharing the villa can often work out more cost-effective than booking multiple hotel rooms.
How to Get to Villa Santa Croce from Naples Airport
The easiest way to reach Villa Santa Croce is to fly into Naples International Airport.
From there, you have a few options:
- Private transfer (around 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic)
- Train from Naples to Salerno, followed by ferry or local transport
- Car hire if you’re comfortable driving on coastal roads
Personally, I’d recommend arranging a transfer for convenience, especially if you’re travelling as a group.
The roads along the Amalfi Coast are famously winding and can be busy during peak season, so it’s often easier to let someone else do the driving.
First Impressions of Villa Santa Croce
The setting of Villa Santa Croce is absolutely stunning! Perched above the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, the villa is surrounded by lush gardens, colourful flowers and, of course, lemon trees. If you’ve never been to the Amalfi Coast before, prepare yourself – there are lemons everywhere. On plates, in desserts, hanging from trees, painted on ceramics and decorating pretty much every souvenir shop you pass.
The villa itself sleeps up to 12 guests across six bedrooms, making it ideal for large families, multiple families travelling together, friendship groups, celebrations or team retreats. There’s also a gym, vegetable garden, and multiple balconies and terraces.
The views are what really steal the show though. Every terrace seems to frame another postcard-perfect view of the coastline.
The Pool at Villa Santa Croce
If I had to pick one standout feature of Villa Santa Croce, it would be the pool! I’ve stayed in some gorgeous villas over the years, but this pool area is something special.
Perched above the coastline, the panoramic views are absolutely breathtaking. Whether you’re swimming, sunbathing or enjoying your morning coffee, you’re looking out over the sparkling sea and dramatic Amalfi Coast. The pool is surrounded by a spacious terrace with plenty of loungers, making it easy for everyone to relax without feeling crowded. It’s one of those places where you keep putting your phone down because no photo quite captures how beautiful it actually is. It’s also fairly shallow, so perfect for younger children too!
The Bedrooms at Villa Santa Croce
Something that surprised me during our stay at Villa Santa Croce was how much space everyone had.
The villa sleeps up to 12 guests across six beautifully appointed bedrooms across two areas (the main house and an annex), making it ideal for large family holidays, multi-generational trips, girls’ getaways and special celebrations. Rather than feeling like a rental property, the bedrooms have the feel of a boutique hotel, with elegant furnishings, traditional Italian touches and plenty of natural light. Several rooms enjoy sea views, meaning you can wake up to those famous Amalfi Coast vistas every morning.
For larger groups, having six bedrooms also means everyone gets their own space, which is worth its weight in gold on longer trips.
Dining at Villa Santa Croce
One of the things we loved about Villa Santa Croce was having the flexibility to eat in whenever we wanted. With a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor dining areas overlooking the sea, it’s easy to enjoy relaxed breakfasts, long lunches and sunset dinners without leaving the property.
Having our groceries waiting for us on arrival made things even easier (more on this below). It meant we could start enjoying the villa immediately instead of heading straight to the supermarket after travelling.
For special occasions, the villa can also arrange private chefs and catering experiences, allowing guests to enjoy restaurant-quality meals without ever leaving the terrace.
The Service Made All the Difference
One of the things that really impressed us about Villa Santa Croce was how easy everything felt. Before we arrived, we sent over a shopping list and the wonderful property manager, Norman, arranged for everything to be waiting for us when we got there. After travelling, there’s nothing better than arriving to find cold drinks, snacks and breakfast essentials already stocked up. It’s such a simple touch but it instantly made us feel at home.
Throughout our stay, the service was fantastic and helped turn a beautiful villa into a genuinely relaxing experience.
Getting Around Amalfi Without Spending a Fortune
Let’s talk about transport.
One thing you should know before staying at Villa Santa Croce is that local taxis can be very expensive. We quickly learned that the local buses are your friend – a bus journey into Amalfi costs around €4, whereas a taxi for the same journey… I don’t even want to talk about the €65 we were charged for a five-minute trip 😅
The buses are frequent, easy to use, plus give you the added bonus of enjoying the incredible coastal views along the way.
If you’re trying to visit the Amalfi Coast on a sensible budget, this is one of the easiest ways to save money.
Exploring Amalfi Town
Amalfi town itself is beautiful but busy – especially during the summer months. The narrow streets are packed with visitors exploring shops, cafés and restaurants, and there’s always a buzz around the harbour.
We loved wandering through the town, stopping for gelato and soaking up the atmosphere, but I was equally happy returning to the peace and tranquillity of Villa Santa Croce afterwards. It really does give you the best of both worlds.
More Things to Do Near Villa Santa Croce
There is no shortage of things to do when staying at Villa Santa Croce! Boat trips are probably the number one experience I’d recommend. We spent a day out on the water exploring the coastline and it ended up being one of the highlights of the entire trip. Seeing the Amalfi Coast from the sea gives you a completely different perspective and allows you to access hidden coves, swimming spots and incredible viewpoints you simply can’t reach by road.
Other popular day trips include:
- Visiting Positano
- Taking a ferry to Capri
- Exploring Ravello
- Hiking sections of the Path of the Gods
- Cooking classes and local food experiences
- Sunset cruises along the coast
The villa’s location makes it easy to explore the wider Amalfi Coast while still enjoying a peaceful base away from the crowds.
Is Villa Santa Croce Good Value?
This is probably the biggest misconception about places like Villa Santa Croce. At first glance, the price can seem high, but when you divide the cost between 10-12 people, it often works out far more affordable than booking multiple hotel rooms in Amalfi.
At first glance, Villa Santa Croce looks like a luxury splurge, with rates starting from around €1,700 per night. But with space for up to 12 guests, the maths is surprisingly appealing. Split between a full group, that’s from around €142 per person, per night for a private Amalfi Coast villa with a pool, sea views and plenty of space to spread out.
Considering hotel prices in this part of Italy, especially during peak season, Villa Santa Croce offers far better value than you might expect.

If you’re searching for an Amalfi Coast wedding venue, Villa Santa Croce deserves a place on your shortlist.

It can be, but there are ways to keep costs under control. We found using local buses instead of taxis made a huge difference, and having kitchen facilities allowed us to mix meals out with meals at the villa.
Would We Stay at Villa Santa Croce Again?
Absolutely! We’re already planning it!
Villa Santa Croce gave us everything we wanted from an Amalfi Coast stay: incredible views, plenty of space, fantastic service and a location that made exploring easy. The pool alone would be enough to tempt me back – but when you combine that with Norman’s hospitality, the beautiful surroundings and the surprisingly good value when shared between a group, it becomes a villa that’s very easy to recommend. If you’re travelling with extended family, friends or planning a special celebration, Villa Santa Croce is definitely worth considering.

This is one of the best Eurocamps we’ve been to, particularly for families who love a waterpark! There are so many slides, splash areas and pools to spend the day exploring. On top of that you’re right by a beach, close to the gorgeous city of Venice and there’s even a fun fair!

This is one of the best Eurocamps we’ve been to, particularly for families who love a waterpark! There are so many slides, splash areas and pools to spend the day exploring. On top of that you’re right by a beach, close to the gorgeous city of Venice and there’s even a fun fair!
