Getting to Billund from the UK
Getting to Billund used to be very cheap and easy, especially for those traveling from the UK. Direct flights with Ryanair from major cities like London and Manchester took less than two hours, making it a perfect spot for a family weekend trip. Unfortunately Ryanair wont be flying there anymore.
The reason for this is noted on the Ryanair website:
“Ryanair, today (Fri, 31 Jan) announced that it will close its 2 aircraft Billund base (a loss of $200m investment) and cut all routes to/from Aalborg from the end of March, in response to the Govt’s short-sighted decision to introduce an aviation tax of up to DKK 50 per departing passenger from Jan 2025, coupled with Billund’s failure to agree a competitive long-term agreement.”
A Ryanair spokesperson said:
“We are very disappointed to announce the closure of our 2 aircraft Billund base and our operations at Aalborg from the end of March, but we have been left with no other choice following the Danish Govt’s short-sighted decision to introduce a harmful aviation tax from Jan 2025.
Ryanair is the only major airline growing in Europe, and cost is the main factor when deciding where to allocate aircraft and growth. Unfortunately, this harmful aviation tax makes Denmark (especially regional Denmark) hopelessly uncompetitive compared to other EU countries, like Sweden, Hungary, and Italian regions, who are abolishing aviation taxes to stimulate traffic recovery and growth”
Alternative ways to access Billund
You can still fly between London and Billund with airlines like British Airways. Naturally this will be more expensive than you would have previously paid with Ryanair.
You could consider getting budget flights to Copenhagen and then a 3 hour train to Billund. Copenhagen is a fantastic destination for families, you can read more about it here.

WOW PARK is divided into different zones, each offering a variety of activities designed to challenge, entertain, and inspire visitors of all ages. Here’s a rundown of some of the most popular attractions at the park.
1. The Giant: Scandinavia’s Tallest Free Fall Slide Tower
If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, The Giant will be a highlight of your visit. Standing at 20 meters (about 65 feet), this towering slide features three thrilling routes. The most intense option, The Lightning, offers a heart-pounding free fall that’s perfect for thrill-seekers.
Don’t worry if you’re not ready for the full plunge—there are less intense slides suitable for younger kids or those who want to ease into the excitement.

2. Treetop Walkways and Adventure Nets
Imagine walking among the treetops on suspended bridges that weave through the forest canopy. WOW PARK’s Treetop Walkways offer exactly that experience. Suitable for all ages, these walkways provide a fantastic view of the surrounding natural beauty and are an exciting way to start your adventure.
For those looking for even more fun up in the trees, the Adventure Nets let kids and adults bounce, jump, and climb high above the forest floor. It’s a perfect activity for those wanting to test their agility while feeling like they’re flying through the air.

3. Friendly Goats and Animal Encounters
Take a break from climbing and sliding to meet WOW PARK’s friendly goats.
This peaceful, animal-filled area is a great way to slow down and enjoy a more relaxed moment with your family in between the park’s more action-packed zones.
4. Zip Lines and Swings
There’s nothing like flying through the air on a zip line, and WOW PARK has plenty of them! The park offers a range of zip lines for various ages and bravery levels—from short, gentle rides for younger kids to longer, faster zips for thrill-seekers.
If zip lines aren’t your thing, try out one of the many swings around the park. Some swings are designed for toddlers, while others soar high above the ground, providing a unique and exhilarating way to take in the park’s scenery.
5. Underground Caves and Mazes
WOW PARK’s Underground Caves and Mazes add an element of mystery and exploration to your visit. These dark, twisting tunnels are perfect for curious adventurers who love to explore hidden spaces. Above ground, natural wooden mazes will test your navigation skills as you work your way through fun, puzzling paths.

6. Water Play Areas
During the warmer months, WOW PARK’s Water Play Areas are a hit with kids looking to cool off after a day of climbing and exploring. These shallow streams and splash zones offer plenty of opportunities for kids to build dams, explore ponds, and enjoy some water fun. Just don’t forget to pack extra clothes!
7. Fireplaces and Marshmallow Roasting
WOW PARK’s focus on nature shines through in its cozy Fireplaces scattered around the park. You can gather your family around an open fire to roast marshmallows, pop popcorn, or just warm up after a day of activity. You can buy all the necessary ingredients at the park’s shop, or bring your own picnic for a rustic meal around the fire.
8. Trim Trails and Obstacle Courses
For those looking for a physical challenge, the park offers Trim Trails and Obstacle Courses designed to test your balance and stamina. These mini adventure races are perfect for family competition, and with varying difficulty levels, everyone from toddlers to parents can join in the fun.
9. Nature Learning and Exploration
WOW PARK is not just about physical play—it also offers opportunities to learn about nature. Educational signs throughout the park help visitors discover more about the local wildlife, forest ecosystem, and sustainability practices.
10. Giant Jumping Pillows and Sled Runs
End your day on a high note with the Giant Jumping Pillows, a favourite among kids and adults alike. These enormous inflatable pillows provide endless bouncing fun. If you’re up for a fast-paced thrill, the park’s Sled Run offers a rush of excitement as you zoom down a hill on a specially designed sled.

The facilities are a highlight—clean, well-designed, and made from reclaimed wood, with kid-friendly features like small entrances and varying toilet sizes, adding a fun touch.
For food, the park’s cozy food court offers a range of well-priced snacks, meals, and ice creams. Just note that it closes earlier than the park, around 3 PM, so plan your meal or ice cream break accordingly.

Stay Hydrated
There are water stations on site, but it’s a good idea to bring your own reusable water bottles, especially if you’re visiting during the warmer months.

It’s so much more than just LEGOLAND!
Billund in Denmark is the perfect destination for a family short break. The LEGO hotel is cheaper than the one in Windsor and honestly, the park is SO much better.
We spent two days in LEGOLAND which was just enough, however you CAN NOT miss Lego House, WOW park and a trip to lalandia.

Is this the coolest restaurant?!
For our Lego loving son it absolutely is!
Located in Lego House in Billund Denmark, this restaurant is definitely unique. You can eat here without paying for admission to Lego House, but you should definitely check it out if you have time, our son enjoyed Lego House more than Legoland!
Two adult meals, a kids meal, 3 beers and a coke was £85 - pricey, but a really unique experience!

Have you been to both parks?! Which did you prefer? PR visit
Both of these Legoland parks are brilliant but we REALLY enjoyed Billund. The queues were much better, prices at the park were cheaper and the park just felt more well structured. I’ll be posting lots more about it this week.
We stayed at the Lego hotel and visited Lalandia, Lego house and Wow park during the trip. Highly recommend for a family short break!

The Algarve has arguably one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe. If it’s dramatic cliffs, blue sea and year round sun weren’t enough, the Algarve has amazing seafood, great wines and lots of quaint little towns to explore.

Day 1 of our 17 night trip to the Algarve and Porto 🇵🇹✈️
We visit the Algarve often as João is from here - the poor lad unfortunately left this sunny paradise for Nottinghamshire to be with me ✨ We are looking to move back here as soon as we can escape our mortgage..
Anyway, Alvor is honestly such a perfect place for a holiday. If you’re considering the Algarve look into Alvor or Portimão. I’ll do more videos on here later in the trip. The weather stays great into September and October, so it is the perfect place for a post summer escape. ☀️
