Best Algarve Family Hotels – A 2026 Guide

For me the Algarve is the perfect destination for a family holiday. Beautiful weather, but not too hot, really friendly locals, a delicious local cuisine and family friendly beaches and activities. What’s not too love? Too make it even more appealing the flight time is only around 2.5 hours from London.

The Algarve has some incredible family-friendly hotels from splash parks and water slides to views and chill, there’s something to suit every family no matter the age of your children or your budget.

I’ve put together a guide to the best Algarve family hotels to make searching for your perfect family holiday a breeze!

3HB Guarana, Olhos D’Agua

This hotel at 4.5 stars is at the higher end of a family hotel choice, however we can definitely see why, it really does offer bang for your buck!

3HB Guarana is set in the beautiful Olhos D’Agua and really is the perfect setting for a family getaway. Just a few steps from shops, restaurants and a bit further for two beautiful beaches. You don’t need to travel far for anything and there are also some great family days out close by like Slide and Splash water park and Zoo marine.

There is something for everyone with four outdoor pools including 2 children’s pools, a splash park and an indoor pool! Not forgetting a full entertainment programme including the all important mini disco. For the older children there are still plenty of activities including pool parties. Families rave about this place being one of the best Algarve family hotels, and its easy to see why!

For adults, there is a gym and spa as well as daily and evening shows and live music, alongside the family-friendly activities.

3HB Clube Humbria,

Olhos D’Agua

If you’re travelling with younger children, 3HB Clube Humbria is a standout choice in the Algarve. The resort offers apartment style accommodation, giving families the luxury of separate sleeping spaces, plenty of room to spread out, and the convenience of a kitchenette – even though the hotel operates mainly on an all‑inclusive basis.

Set in the charming fishing village of Olhos d’Água, you’ll find shops, restaurants, and two beaches just a short stroll away, making it easy to mix resort life with local exploration.

To keep the children entertained there is a mini aqua park with colourful slides and splash zones and a large outdoor pool plus children’s pool. There is also a kids club, playground and games room as well as daily entertainment. This hotel is a really great option for families with younger children, rather than teens.

Pestana Blue, Alvor

The Pestana Blue Alvor Beach is a newly renovated 5-star, all-inclusive hotel in the Algarve, designed with families in mind. It combines beachfront access, multiple pools, and dedicated kids’ facilities with stylish accommodation and varied dining options.

The hotel sits directly on Três Irmãos Beach, which has to be my favourite beach on the Algarve with its beautiful coves and rock formations. This hotel is also in a great location to explore the charming village of Alvor, which is an absolute must! Here you will find shops and eateries galore!

The rooms are spacious with many rooms offering sea views. This hotel really does offer comfort and convenience and is often toted as one of the very best Algarve family hotels.

To entertain the children there is a children’s pool and splash area, kids club and daily shows.

For the adults there is  spa treatments, gym, and an adult only pool if you can manage to escape 😊

3HB Falesia Garden, Olhos D’Agua

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key than the big all-inclusive resorts, 3HB Falesia Garden is a fantastic choice. It’s not the “all singing, all dancing” type of hotel, but that’s exactly what makes it special. This is the kind of place for families who love to get out and explore, mixing days of adventure with poolside relaxation and beach time.

Perched above the stunning Falesia Beach, 3HB Falesia Garden offers direct access via large wooden steps, making it a unique spot for families who want both adventure and relaxation. The restaurant, pool, bar, and several rooms boast incredible sea views – arguably some of the best in the Algarve, providing a breathtaking backdrop to every part of your stay. With its relaxed, intimate, and welcoming atmosphere, the hotel is an ideal choice for families who prefer a quieter base while still being close to the beach and local amenities.

Eden Villas and Apartments, Albufeira

The Eden Villas and Apartments are a fantastic choice for larger families when it comes to the best Algarve family hotels, with accommodation options ranging from one‑bed apartments to four‑bedroom villas. They also offer a variety of board options – from self‑catering to all‑inclusive – depending on your family’s preferences.

Set in lush gardens with pretty pastel buildings, the resort feels peaceful yet has plenty to keep all ages entertained. There’s a splash park, a main pool, an adults only pool, a full programme of activities for both children and adults, and a brilliant kids’ club.

We have stayed here on an all‑inclusive basis, and the food was genuinely great (including options for allergies, the gluten‑free cake was especially good!). The BBQ nights were a real highlight. We also had one à la carte meal included, which was lovely too.

Evening entertainment was varied, with live music in the bar, shows in the circus tent, and a fire show around the pool. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptional. And be prepared, your kids will absolutely fall in love with Eddie and Luca, the hotel mascots!

Albufeira Old Town is a short taxi ride away (there’s also a free hotel shuttle) and definitely worth a visit. The location is close to lots of beautiful beaches. The hotel runs a shuttle to Praia D’Oura, but slightly further afield you’ll find the stunning Santa Eulália and Falesia beaches.

The hotel offers interconnecting rooms for larger families, along with Bed & Breakfast or Half Board dining options. For more relaxing days, you can stay at the hotel pool and utilise the soft play area.

If you enjoy exploring the local area, be sure to visit nearby Quarteira, where you’ll find long stretches of sandy beach and plenty of restaurants lining the palm‑tree‑fringed promenade. You can also head to the vibrant Vilamoura Marina, where you can browse the shops and soak up the atmosphere of this fabulous resort.

Overall, this pick from the best Algarve family hotels is a brilliant choice for a fun‑filled getaway the whole family will enjoy.

Best Algarve Family Hotels: Final Thoughts

The Algarve has so much to offer for a family holiday with countless stunning beaches to explore. Many of these best Algarve family hotels gems are Blue Flag winners, offering huge stretches of sweeping golden sands and turquoise waters. Whether you’re looking for a quiet cove or a lively beach scene, you’re sure to find it here. As for the water sports, there are loads on offer. Or you can opt for a boat trip along the coast to spot dolphins or see caves.

Aside from the stunning scenery and great foody options it is the people that really make Portugal our go to destination for a family holiday. They are some of the kindest and friendliest people you will ever meet, which shows in their service and the overall experience you will get from your holiday here.

My top pick for a larger family holiday would without a doubt be Eden Villas and Apartments. The accommodation is lovely and spacious and the grounds are beautiful, with the bonus of having all the activities and entertainment you need for the children.

For a more relaxed vibe, or with older children, I would pick 3HB Falesia Garden. You will get a more authentic experience here and the views are simply stunning.

Ksamil is a town on the Albanian Riviera and has had some very mixed reviews over the years, and I think a lot of that comes down to when you visit.

We absolutely loved our trip. It was incredibly affordable too - we paid £190 for six nights in an apartment that slept five! (This was in 2023) I’ve written a full blog post about the trip over on the website, where I’ve shared some great-value accommodation options and tips if you’re thinking about booking something similar.

Comment BLOG and I’ll send you the link along with some cheap flights and info on how to get there!

Expect things like:

🍻 £1.50 pints
🦐 Seafood dishes for under £10
☀️ Beautiful, crystal-clear beaches

We visited in May, when there were very few other people around. The town was just starting to open up for the season, the weather was lovely, and it felt relaxed and easy to enjoy.

June also seems like a great time to visit – a few more things open, but still without the peak summer crowds.

July and August appear to be a very different experience. The town is quite small, and it struggles to cope with the number of visitors in peak season. It can feel very crowded, and prices - particularly for things like sun loungers - can become very steep because of the demand.

So if Ksamil is on your list, timing really is everything!
