Marian Resort and Spa Family Review: Hot Tub Lodge Stay in North Wales | 2026
Marian Resort and Spa Review: Family Hot Tub Lodge Stay in North Wales
We stayed at the Marian Resort and Spa for a midweek February break, and I honestly came away wondering why more people aren’t talking about this place. The whole experience felt far more luxurious than we expected. It genuinely felt more like arriving at a Scandinavian retreat than a holiday park in North Wales, with mountains, woodland and beautiful scenery surrounding the resort.
I visited with my 6-year-old son, my friend and her two children aged 6 and 3, and we stayed in one of the hot tub lodges. We paid £360 for 4 nights, which felt like incredible value once we arrived and saw everything properly.
Our Lodge
We stayed in a Hot Tub Lodge at Marian Resort and Spa and it genuinely shocked me in the best way possible. Sometimes lodge stays can feel a little basic or tired, but this one felt really modern, stylish and luxurious. The lodge was spotless and had everything we needed for a family stay, including a well-equipped kitchen, comfy bedrooms and loads of space for the children to play.
The private hot tub was definitely the highlight for us though. During the day, the children absolutely loved going in after swimming and exploring. Then on an evening once they’d gone to sleep, it was so nice being able to sit outside and properly relax. One of the best things about the layout was that the hot tub area was directly outside one of the bedrooms in a private fenced section, so we could still stay close to the children while enjoying some quiet time ourselves.
Marian Resort and Spa Leisure Facilities
One of the things I really liked about Marian Resort and Spa is that you get access to the leisure facilities included with your stay. We used the swimming pool during the family swim sessions and the pool itself was lovely. It felt clean, modern and relaxing without being too busy. The children had such a good time splashing around and playing. Although I do have to laugh because despite us being there during the designated child-friendly hours, there was one woman tutting because the kids were laughing and enjoying themselves in the pool… which felt a bit ridiculous considering it was literally family swim time. Other than that though, the atmosphere was really nice and the facilities felt much more premium than we expected for the price we paid.
Spa Facilities
We didn’t actually use the spa, aside from the pool, during our stay at Marian Resort and Spa because we were mainly focused on spending time with the children and making the most of the lodge, but the facilities looked beautiful. The resort offers spa treatments alongside facilities including a sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy experiences, so I can definitely imagine this being an amazing option for a couples break or girls’ trip too. It’s quite rare to find somewhere that manages to feel both family-friendly and luxurious, but Marian Resort and Spa really seems to balance both well.
Food at Marian Resort and Spa
We didn’t eat in the restaurant at Marian Resort and Spa during our stay simply because the lodge kitchen made self-catering so easy. With three children between us, it was actually much easier to do relaxed breakfasts in pyjamas and simple evening meals in the lodge rather than getting everybody ready to go out for dinner. That said, the resort does have an on-site restaurant and sports bar, plus family-friendly dining options available if you don’t want to cook during your stay.
Things To Do Near Marian Resort and Spa
One of the best things about staying at Marian Resort and Spa is how well located it is for family days out in North Wales. There’s loads nearby within easy driving distance, so it works brilliantly as a base for exploring.
Dyserth Waterfall – 5 minutes away
Perfect for a quick family walk, especially with younger children. The waterfall is really pretty and easy to access.
Prestatyn Beach – 15 minutes away
Ideal for a beach day, paddling, arcades and fish and chips by the sea.
Greenwood Family Park – around 45 minutes away
One of the best family attractions in North Wales with outdoor play areas, rides and activities aimed at younger children.
Caernarfon Castle – around 50 minutes away
A brilliant family-friendly castle to explore with loads of history and space for children to wander around imagining they’re knights and princesses.
Zip World Betws-y-Coed – around 50 minutes away
Great for adventurous families with activities ranging from forest coasters to treetop adventures. Older children especially would love this.
Snowdonia / Eryri National Park – around 1 hour away
Even if you’re not climbing mountains with children, just driving through the scenery is incredible and there are lots of family-friendly walks and scenic spots to stop at.
Final Thoughts on Marian Resort and Spa
We genuinely had such a lovely stay at Marian Resort and Spa and I’d absolutely return. For £360 for a midweek February break, it felt like amazing value considering the quality of the lodge, the hot tub, the leisure facilities and the location.
The biggest surprise for me was just how luxurious everything felt. Combined with the beautiful surroundings, it really did feel like escaping to somewhere much further away than North Wales. If you’re looking for a family-friendly UK lodge break that still feels relaxing and a bit special for the adults too, Marian Resort and Spa is definitely worth considering.

PortAventura World is a fab theme park in Salou, Spain. I’ve said it’s a great option for big kids given the rollercoasters and higher height requirements - but our two little ones also had a great time there! I have a blog post about our experience where I have listed things that the little ones could do. I posted yesterday about Billund in Denmark, which I think would be a better trip with small children.
